Question IAT Sensor when MAF bypassed

I am following the tutorial for VE tuning and am at the spot where it says to check the forum.
When I unlug the 5 pin MAF from my 2002 vette for data logging how do I incorporiate IAT readings.

Thanks from a real newbie trying.

i have the 3 pin MAF,
and i don`t bother unplugging it.
it doesn`t make sense if you configure things right. IMO
raise the RPM Threshold For Airflow Calculation {B0120} to the maximum.
if you really want to, you could unplug one of the signal wires.

Using a pick tool, you can extract the terminal for pin E... the PCM will see open circuit for the MAF signal and should throw DTC P0102.

Carefully tape up the terminal so it doesn't get dirty/damaged.

With this method misfire detection would still function?

No... any MAF codes cause misfire detection to be disabled.

"raise the RPM Threshold For Airflow Calculation {B0120} to the maximum."

Why would that cause a MAF code?

This step is actually precautionary to ensure a MAF failure code. As Mr. Prick point out, if the tune is setup correctly, it should not be necessary to unplug the MAF. And as Joe pointed out, pulling the pin will have the same effect as unpluggin the MAF.

$0.02: I don't necessarily agree with the validity of the B0120 statement either. By raising this value to the upper limit, the PCM will always attempt to use a hybrid of the VE and MAF values. Going to the lower limit would bypass VE values.

I agree with TAQ... raising B0120 to max does not give exclusive VE operation.

Raising B0120 does not cause a MAF code.

    no it does`nt,
it keeps the MAF from being the sole source of airflow
if engine speed is above this value.
i should have added that i also have the MAF table zeroed and,
have no ill affects with it still plugged in.
the combination of all these things keeps the MAF from being a factor,
or at least that is that is how i am doing it.
