First off, I know I am a pain because I am doing this backwards. I am trying to follow the tutorial, but it is written for someone with an analog lc1. I am using a serial lm1 and a 98 pcm .

I used (0) External wideband AFR (afr) instead of base efficiency numerator x-XXX like it says in the tutorial.

I tried to post a copy of my map, but the file was too large. Any pointers on doing that would speed up the communication on this issue.

Thanks, Rodney

You're on the right track. Thanks for pointing that out. I will update the AutoVE tutorial to accomodate serial PID's in the near future.

Rodney,

If you're using serial wideband AFR, the you will be using these pids (regardless of which wideband you have):
WO2AFR1
BEN1

If you have two widebands cascaded (serial out -> serial in), you will also use:
WO2AFR2
BEN2

You will need to edit the properties of your BEN map to use BEN1 as data instead of the LC1 BEN (save the map with a new name e.g. "B0101 - serial BEN1"). [Actually, the EFILive software should be providing the new map].

Cheers
Joe

Selecting those pids I got it. Sould I use WO2AFR1 for map "A" and
BEN1 for Map "B" ???

Feel free to suggest some good reading material for me as I feel I am just following instructions and I'd like to learn more how it all works.

Thanks guys!

Yes you could do that... BEN1 is the most useful of the two.

See the tutorials section of the forum: forumdisplay.php?f=17 (http://forum.efilive.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17)

Some tuning books:
Ben Strader
Jeff Hartman
Greg Banish

What exactly is ben1???
W02AFR1 AFR Average is set up as my Map A
Ben1_B factor Average is set up as my Map B
What is the difference between these? If the ben1 is the most useful, should I use it for map a and b or is that possible ? Why ?
I need a book of efi terms ...
As always, Thanks

EXT.WO2AFR1 is the wideband serial AFR from wideband #1.
EXT.WO2AFR2 is the wideband serial AFR from wideband #2.

GM.AFR is the "LS1" commanded AFR.
GM.AFR_B is the "LS2" commanded AFR.

BEN1 and BEN2 are the "LS1" correction multipliers:
BEN1 = {EXT.WO2AFR1}/{GM.AFR}
BEN2 = {EXT.WO2AFR2}/{GM.AFR}

BEN1_B and BEN2_B are the "LS2" correction multipliers:
BEN1_B = {EXT.WO2AFR1}/{GM.AFR_B}
BEN2_B = {EXT.WO2AFR2}/{GM.AFR_B}

It doesn't matter which map you put in position (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J).

By saying that BEN1 is more useful I meant that BEN1 is what you paste/multiply during AutoVE...
AFR just gives the commanded AFR, whereas BEN1 is the ratio of actual to commanded
(i.e. BEN1 > 1.0 means you're leaner than commanded, BEN < 1.0 means you're richer than commanded).

If you have an "LS1" PCM, then you should be using GM.AFR and CALC.BEN1 (i.e. the ones without the _B).

Posts #7 and #9 contained a typo, I corrected it, see red ink.

Should I use Ben1 for the A and B map. I was reading ahead on the tutorial and I will have to paste the VE data from the B map to B0103 according to step 12 page 12. Seems right , but I'll ask so I don't mess up.

Oh, from the AutoVE tutorial, for 1997-2000 you use both maps A and B...

Yes, use BEN1 for the data on both maps A and B...

i.e. BEN1 (from serial wideband) now replaces BEN_LC11 or BEN_LC12 or BEN_xxxx (from analog wideband).

e.g. with serial wideband use only BEN1... do not use BEN_LC11 any more.
