a question to the experts......pros... and those who know... ;-)

One more question.... what could I expect from a wideband o2 sensor and autoVE tuning... goal should be to get the AFR leaned out / more accurate in comparison to the OEM narrow band o2 sensors..

Is there any way to get a kind of open loop / lean cruise in no / low load areas?

To the sensor.. If I look over here in germany I think I should look at Bosch? Any suggestions on a special type?

Then, will the wideband(s) remain in the exhaust instead of the two OEM ones in front of the cats? Or is it only for calibration purpose and to create a correction table? Then, if I understand correct I have to install 2 widebands, one for each bank?..... I think I am confused..... at least a little bit.. which is quite usual..

Platform is a GEN IV 5.3 LMG E38 controlled engine in a 1997 Tahoe which has bad fuel drinking habits... see:

thanks a lot

Harald, the aim of AutoVE is to make your actual AFR as measured by the wideband the same as your commanded AFR. This is what models your engines airmass to give a solid base to set the rest of your tune around. The actual leaning out in low load /cruise areas must then be commanded in your fuelling tables (B3605) or (B3647) if using a COS.
A wideband sensor needs a controller so you are better off looking for something like the LM-1, LM-2 or LC-1. These are a very reliable, accurate wideband for the price. They also can be set up to give a narrowband sensor type output so they can be left in the exhaust.
Hope that helps.
