Crank relearn not working?

I have done this a few times a couple years ago and it looks like recently the software has changed a bit, I remember the 4 boxes that would change to green when all parameters are met and now there are what seems to be three bars on the bottom. I activate the bidirectional, I can raise the idle and whatever, but when I click tke relearn button nothing happens at all, TPS is at 0.0, brake is on and the temp is in range. Nothing seems to happen anywhere..

Am i missing somethig? Its a 2000 F-body, M6, it set the p1336 code (new engine, new PCM and new crank sensor), it appears to run OK.

Hi kp,

When you press the relearn button, you then have to push the throttle to get rpm over 4000...

then you will feel a sharp misfire upon which you immediately release the throttle completely, let the motor spin down...

let it idle for a few moments, and then switch key off for at least 15 seconds...

is that what you did...?

Since I didnt see anything change when I clicked the relearn button I didnt try bringing the rpm up. The instructions were still for older software with the green bars showing it was ready to go so I wasnt sure if something was supposed to happen to show it was ready to bring the rpm up.

I'll try it again tomorrow.

I noticed this also.
There deffinately needs to be something changed in the software to show 'readiness'...or something. The previous versions were ALOT easier to negotiate.
Even with the 'OK'. It would be better if it was in a red box which changed to green when all readiness tests were met and it was time to push the accelerator.

Yea, I'm not really to happy to sit there and try to free rev a brand new (and somewhat expensive) engine to 4000+ RPM several times not knowing if its going to work or not :)

I didnt know if the 'OK' on top meant anything, the .pdf manual instructions are for the older software.

That's correct Joe.
Something to say "READY" and something to say "CKP RELEARN SUCCESSFUL" would be great.

The OK means the PCM received the CASE relearn command and it is waiting for the engine to reach about 4000-4500 rpm so it can actually learn the CASE.

The CASE will be learned if you feel the misfire. That is the only indication you will get.

If you click the relearn again in the same ignition cycle and it has already been learned you will not get the OK, you will get a message "CASE already learned".

The boxes below the CASE button, with the ranges in them should show red/green, but they do not. That will be fixed in version 8.

And yes, the documentation needs updating.

I tried it a while ago and it does work, felt the misfire and the code is gone.
