I just bought a LC-1 got it wired up like this

Red Wire = 12V
Blue Wire = Ground
White Wire and Green wire hooked up to ground D
yellow = not used
Black calibration wire hooked up to LED and momentary push button
brown is hooked up to C

Sensor and cable are brand new I just wired this up and I keep getting error 5 after the sensor warms up, I powered up the cable for 10 seconds then off for 10 and then hooked up the O2 sensor then turned power back on it had a slow steady 2 blinks per second, indicating sensor warming up, and after 15 second or so it goes in to 5 blinks and two second pause over and over, what the hell am I doing wrong? sensor has not been used yet, so I wouldnt think it would be that? I will do some testing with the ohm meter in the AM I guess.

Any ideas?

now do I have to have my flashscan plugged in to the car and connected to the software for me to get anywhere with this?

LC-1 doesn't know or care whether Analog 2 is connected to anything. Try running LogWorks2 from the serial output to see what's happening. This is probably an issue for the LC-1 forum on the Innovate site. Klaus is extremely helpful with product issues over there.
