I was wondering if the beta testers or someone from efilive could post more bins just to look at and play aroung with. Just curious to see how different cars and values are setup

Last night I put together a tune file site for use with our EFILive software. Any comments on how to make the site better are welcome.

Bruce and others, click the email link on the page to send your files and I'll host them on the site.

some of the bins would not work with evaluation software.

I was curious will we be able to veiw any bin with our software regardless if we have a license for that vehicle or not?

Example would be someone with a 02 bin and I just want to veiw it to get an idea of timing and map number so maybe I can adjust my 01 bin to look like it.

I know I know its a stupid questions :?

Yes, one can look at any .tun file with the production release of the software as well as download any PCM on any supported vehicle without affecting your licenses. One only uses up a VIN license if one actually flashes the PCM.

Ok im a little slow HEHE so your saying I can hook my cable up, download the tun. file from any vehicle that the software supports and anaylsis it. Just as long as i dont flash i wont lose a license. right?

Steve Bryant

Yes, that's right. You don't use a license slot unless you flash/re-program the PCM.

I think the eval software is still limited to three PCM types.
But we will be posting the latest version of the software later this week which covers over 20 different PCM operating systems.

As one who enjoys winter sports, I'm always checking the weather, snowfall amounts and snow forecasts everyday. The webpage was made to put all the information in one easy to get to spot for myself and friends.

It is obviously a screw-up on my part in the html coding for the tunes page. Yet another victim of cut and paste. :D

At some point it would be great if the FlashScan software could open LS1edit bin files so we could work read and work with those files.

SinisterSS
January 11th, 2005, 05:14 AM
LS1Edit has a proprietary encryption which prevents third party software from reading the files. Perhaps in the future, if LS1Edit "goes away," the code will be publicly opened.

Until then, one can use EFILive to read the LS1Edit tuned PCM directly; thus circumnavigating the entire encrypted *.LS1 file.

Correct?

SinisterSS

You cannot open a .LS1 file on your computer.

You can hook up EFILive to your vehicle, which was previously flashed with LS1Edit, and pull that LS1Edit file out of the PCM and onto your laptop, thus giving you EFILive editing capability of the original LS1Edit file.

Circumnavigating. 8)

*Disclaimer: Providing the PCM was not locked with LS1Edit.

Ignore the disclaimer  , LS1Edit lock only locks itself from itself, it's not problem for Flashscan.

Perhaps somebody wants to Email LS1Edit and ask for the encryption algo  then we could included the direct loading of LS1Edit files off your PC.

Cheers,
Ross

Hi Mark,

Send an Email to ross@efilive.com and I'll send you the files, unless Rick has put them up already, I've not checked.

PCM's locked with other programs?, if you know the key to unlock the PCM then you can read/write to it, or you need to be handy with a soldering iron :( .

I will gladly host modified tunes but have two rules to prevent lawsuits:

Rule #1: The tunes must be of your own work and not tunes professionally done such as those by Lingenfelter, Speed Inc., Hypertech, etc.

Rule #2: See Rule #1

Others who have hosted "professional" tunes have had gotten nasty letters from lawyers. It's like posting the secret ingredient to Coke or the raw code to EFILive, it is intellectual property that has value to its owners and shouldn't be freely distributed.

Ive yet to see something astonishing from any of the ones ive seen :( It kinda upsets me when i see them do that. Maybe we should sue them for them reading our posts on all the forums and putting it into "there programs" lol jes

After revised calibrations came out for my T56 2000 SS (in 2003 I think), I had the dealer update my PCM:
Engine Calibration
09357640 engine calibration (original)
09358629 new calibration to reduce spark knock, enable enhanced evap diagnostics, and reduce occurances of false dtc p0175.

Engine Diagnostic Calibration
09357952 engine diagnostic calibration (original)
09358060 new calibration to address a.i.r. check valve noise
09359027 new calibration to reduce spark knock, enable enhanced evap diagnostics, and reduce occurances of false dtc p0175.

Today I restored my stock calibration (of course this was a huge hassle since LS1_Prog wouldn't load with XP SP2 installed -- don't get me started) and once I captured the stock tune with FlashScan I did some comparisons and noticed two things. One is that my current stock calibration is the same as 2000_Pontiac_TransAm_LS1_T56_stock.tun (http://www.nitro-nights.com/2005v/efilive/tunes/2000_Pontiac_TransAm_LS1_T56_stock.tun) (at least according to FlashScan). The other is that 2000_Chevrolet_Camaro_LS1_T56_stock.tun (http://www.nitro-nights.com/2005v/efilive/tunes/2000_Chevrolet_Camaro_LS1_T56_stock.tun) isn't completely stock; The rev limiter is bumped up to 6600, fans temps have been adjusted and max vehicle speed is maxed out. There are other differences but they may be due to differences between the two stock calibrations.

It might be nice to flag the 2000 Trans Am calibration as being the updated factory version. And maybe someone can submit a more stock early 2000 T56 file.

I'm happy to upload my stock file if there's interest.
