Hey guys - In case you were wondering, Houston is doing OK with the hurricane. About 500,000 people in the costal areas are without power. We've been having intermittant power blips at my house. We are 1 of 3 households on my street that decided to ride this thing out rather than play with all the yankees in the evacuation efforts. I'm glad we stayed.

At the moment, winds are about 35mph sustained with gust up to 50-60 mph. There is only light rain at the moment. Anyhow, I woke up about 30 minutes ago, it's 4:somthing am, I'm drinking beer and have nothing better to do than update the internet with how we're doing.

I'll keep you guys updated so long as I have power.

Good Deal. My sister evacuated from Fulshear (find THAT on a map) and I expect her to be coming back home soon. Be careful with the beer, man. I heard the Heineken Looter (http://www.beerlooterdude.net/) has been spotted in Rita's wake.

Good deal, I'm glad you guys got lucky. I have a sister in Conroe and she's also a batten down the hatches gal.

*yawn* Just woke up about an hour ago, nothing too interesting happened out here in Katy. I'm still gonna have to water my lawn tomorrow, we didn't even get much for rain!

The power blipped on and off all night, had maybe an hour total with no power. All the transitions found a weak link in my central A/C though, where the main safety relay solders to the board. It blew the trace right off the board where the relay post pokes through -- I'm guessing it was a cold solder joint to begin with. So, a quick repair job with my trusty soldering iron and a few minutes later the A/C was back on

Sounds like things worked out for most of you.

Brains, my son and I hunt in Katy over thanksgiving weekend. We hunt in the morning and drive down and fish in the afternoon. Its amazing how built up its getting, just in the last 5 years. I like to pound the snows and flying ribeyes (Sand Hills) Glad it missed you guys... Nothing like our media to turn a heavy rain and some wind into a mass Exodus

Gas has no price in Houston - we're all out!

When I left work on wednesday, there was a ~30 mile long bumper-to-bumper-not-going-anywhere traffic jam headded towards I 10.... I was so glad I was not in it.

Did yall see the news, the reporter in Kemah was reporting the trees that got "blown down"? If you ask me, those trees were planted about a week ago and just fell over ;)
