12221588 OS in my 02Z06 ETC car....i want to run the COS 5 but it appears only cos3 is available for my car....having a helluva time tuning out the bucking with my 235 243 620 623 111+3 cam in my stock cube 346 with the stock OS
Any ways around this so I can run the Cos5?

Your available options:
- copy all your tables to a 2002 ETC/M6 12212156 file (you have ETC and M6); get your Z06 completely/correctly running on this, and then the transition to COS5 is simple.
- copy all your tables directly to a COS5 file.

The first option is more flexible as it lets you troubleshoot any transition problems without having to blame COS5.

To copy tables, since the OS are different, you would have to open two instances of the tunetool (one on your old file, one on your new file) and use copy-with-labels and paste-with-labels to copy each table (table-by-table)... it is tedious (takes about 2 hours), but at present that's all you have available... spend time and do this carefully.

cool thanks joe....that OS...what vehicle is it from?
i remember i changed OS from one 02 Z06 OS to another 02Z OS....just did the comare thing and changed all the others to what i had prior....why is this different and have to copy and paste with lables
are you running cos5? how do you like it if so?

anybody got a link to this tune i need to copy my files to?...i was just on holdencrazy and theres lots of cars with that 12212156 OS...which do I need?

ok so i found a 02 vette with the 12212156 manual car....so i copy my tables to this tune folder by folder and flash this OS and Cal in my car....then make sure it runs....then flash in the COS5 OS only...then flash the 12212156 calibration only with my data in place?

joecar

Yes, that would be the one.

Copy your tables over, table-by-table, save to file... do full flash, read it back and save to new file... make sure car runs same as old OS.

Then follow the COS Update tutorial (located under the folder C:\Program Files\EFILive\V7.5\Doc)...
also see the COS5 thread, there's a few extra things you have to do (it's a long read, so look at the summary at the end):

COS5:
showthread.php?t=2599 (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=2599)
showthread.php?t=2270 (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=2270)

Note: if your EFILive software is at build 84, then you have the COS5 files already, you do not have to get them from the thread.

From scantool or tunetool do Help->About and see which build it says.

I don't remember, do you have FlashScan V2 or FlashScan V1...?

For updating, if you have the build or a newer one than what is listed on the main EFILive.com download page (build 72) then go go into the start menu under the EFILive program folder, click Tools then Check for Updates. Have to do this for both V7.5 and V8 (if you have a FS V2).

+1 what Erik said.

If you have older V2 bootblock/firmware you will have to update those...

but first let us know what scantool/tunetool build version you're currently at.

You need to get 7.5.5 build 84. And download 8.1.2.

V2 btw

You'll need to update your firmware too.

Do steps 3 and 4:

You will need to download the V7.5 and V8 software from here (two downloads):
http://www.efilive.com/index.php?opt...=48&Itemid=124 (http://www.efilive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=124)

Then:
1. install V7.5 from the above downloads;
2. install V8 from the above downloads;
3. Start->All Programs->EFILive->V7.5->Tools->Check For New Update and follow the prompts, wait for it to finish updating;
4. Start->All Programs->EFILive->V8->Tools->Check For New Update and follow the prompts, wait for it to finish updating;
Start EFILive Explorer (EE) and go to the Firmware tab and see what bootblock and firmware versions it says, report back here.

just tried 3 and 4 as you stated....says the efilive update server can not be contacted that it can possibly be down for up updates and whatnot....guess i'll try again in a min...so i need to do the firmware on my handheld again? maybe this will fix my problem, everytime i connected my serial cable i had to set it up to take ser pid's and selected innovate every time because it wouldnt save those changes

btw looked in the firmware tab and all are blank no data

but if i click the folder in the top left named firmware it says FsProgV2_05_20.efw and another file ACProgV2_05_20.efw
and bootblock i have 2 files as well
ACBootV2_05_08.efw
FSBootV2_05_08.efw

I never used the 8.1 dont even know what its for...i just updated my firmware a while back so i could use my serial lc1 cable and went on my way of doing things the old way...anyone care to explain?

In order to see firmware version you have to have V2 connected by USB to Computer and then open EE (EFILive Explorer) .
AC is Auto Cal device
FS is Flash Scan device (V2)

Is your Windows firewall blocking you...?

Do this:
- save your tune files someplace,
- uninstall V7.5 and V8,
- download V7.5 and V8 from the downloads page at www.efilive.com (http://www.efilive.com),
- install the new V7.5 and V8,
- do steps 3 and 4:

3. Start->All Programs->EFILive->V7.5->Tools->Check For New Update and follow the prompts, wait for it to finish updating;
4. Start->All Programs->EFILive->V8->Tools->Check For New Update and follow the prompts, wait for it to finish updating;
Then:

+1 on what Chevy366 said... V2 must be connected to PC...

Then start EE, goto Firmware tab, read off the versions for bootblock and firmware, post those here.

V8 is currently used for:
- updating the V2 bootblock/firmware (bb/fw),
- doing black box logging.

See attached document, it will indicate how to get bb/fw upto date...

joecar

Then once you've gotten thru the firewall and updated to the latest (ST/TT build 84, EE build 44),
then you can update bootblock and firmware to 2.06.02 and 2.06.06 (do the bootblock first).

Kurtomac
May 10th, 2009, 12:15 PM
so i just downloaded 7.5.5 build 84
and downloaded the 8.1.2 build 42...did the update on this...how do i tell indeed that it took the update to build 44?
Also my FS firmware and bootblock...how do i update/upgrade these?

Kurtomac
May 10th, 2009, 12:35 PM
wow so im a dumbass...got my Bootblock 2.06.02 Firmware programmed 2.06.06 7.5.5 build 84 8.1.2 build 42 EE downloaded and updated...still not sure how to tell if i got build 44 on that
so joe...next up on me getting going on the cos5...get a SD card so i can try out BBL...still havnt tried it...waiting on my relpacement sLC1 cable...in the meantime i guess i can copy paste all current calibrations to the ETC M6 OS 12212156....after i do that and flash the cal and OS and make sure its running properly....keep a copy of this....then flash the appropriate Cos5 OS only then flash my cal only of the ETC M6 12212156 OS that we mentioned
all this sound correct?

joecar
May 11th, 2009, 03:47 AM
Start EFILive Explorer (EE), goto the Firmware tab, click About... you should see a pop up saying Build 44.

You have it... just add the red parts:

use copy-with-labels / paste-with-labels...

Then:
- save file,
- do full flash,
- read back 1221256 from PCM and save to a new file,
- make sure car runs.

Then:
- full flash 02020005 (COS5),
- immediately cal-only flash from the saved 12212156 file,
- read back 02020005 from PCM and save to a new file,
- make sure can still runs.

You may have to set the out-of-range tables to in-range values (either min+1 or max-1)... save file, cal-only flash.

man when are they going to have a compare feature so you can compare tunes with diff OS's...make this cal swap over way faster!

man when are they going to have a compare feature so you can compare tunes with diff OS's...make this cal swap over way faster!+1 it would make cal swaps way more easier...

My understanding is that the tables are located at different memory locations and not necessarily in the same order, and not necessarily have the same axes (may be transposed), so it makes the differencing algorithm complicated.

Resurrecting a dead thread, any faster way of doing this come about yet? I am copying and pasting to get from a 99 os to an 02 os so I can then convert to cos5. I assume all the differences between the os's make it less than easy to design a way to automatically compare them...

I believe it is still the same situation.

joecar

Use copy-with-labels and paste-with-labels as this aligns the data correctly with the row/column labels.

joecar
August 12th, 2011, 01:33 PM
There is no quick way to do this unless you have a 1999-2000 stock F-car (in which case http://www.tunefiledepot.com has pre-made 12212156 files).

Should I send them my 12212156 file for c1500 so they have it to share? Think someone else could use it?

Should I send them my 12212156 file for c1500 so they have it to share? Think someone else could use it?Yes, you can do that, I'm sure there are many people with the same truck;

specify that is its the conversion to 1221256 in preparation for COS3/5... just make sure your truck runs properly on it (engine and trans both function correctly).
