Hi ALL,
I am new to TUNING, my question is I want to cancel the speed limit on my sierra 2500HD 2008 I can't pass the 180 KM/h, and one more thing I've heard that my engine uses 4 cylinders at low speeds then uses the total 8 cylenders on high speeds is there a way to cancel it??

and finally is Gen IV V8 my engine's name or vortech V8??? thanks a lot
I know my questions might sound EEzZZ for you guys but i really need your help thanks a lot
cheers:angel_innocent:

You can remove the speed limiter and change AFM activation (or turn it off if you wish) in EFILive.

You have a Gen IV 6.0L V8 that is a Vortec 6000 (I assume since its a 2500HD its the 6.0L V8 and not the 5.3), its actual RPO code (or what GM calls it) is something different. Use wikipedia to look that up.

You can keep it from going into 4 cylinder mode by going into EFI Live, look up the table for AFM which is {B0921}and set it to "NO" and for the speed limiter look up table {H0129} and set it at whatever speed you want!!! Be careful and don't go faster than the speed rating of the tires....

There is a lot of speed limiter methods in the E38.
If you look in the Speeo section you will find the speed limiter group. The important one is {H0156} Speed Limiter Source, you will need to set that to ECM as well.

But as the warning in the software states: - ** CAUTION ** Do not set the vehicle speed limiter above the speed rating of the tires fitted to the vehicle.

What those guys said!

Cant speak for AFM as neither of my TrailBlazers have it so no idea how to turn it off, bet if I played with it for a few mins I could get it down though.

Hi, thanks alot every one, today was my first time to use the EFILIVE, here are my questions: GMPX u mentioned ;The important one is {H0156} Speed Limiter Source, you will need to set that to ECM as well.
i went to that one and its written: Other Module, should i write ECM instead??
ive changed {H0129} to 200 KM/h and left the other parameter as they are 158 KM/h and reflashed my PCM and its the same my car didn;t exceed 158 :( wHYYY!!

finally I went to {B0921} as GAMEOVER said ; searched for AFM and I found it already set NO,,, and here are the parameters : No
625.000000
625.000000
625.000000
625.000000
625.000000
625.000000
3000.000000
3000.000000
3000.000000
3000.000000
3000.000000
3000.000000
5.999756

As my original post said, change that parameter to ECM instead or all those other speed limiter values you changed are ignored and the speed limit value is defined by another computer on the car.

We had a 120F day here over summer, it's pretty nasty that sort of heat, 125F is crazy.

By the looks of it AFM isn't "ON" and everything is there to adjust the speed limiter....
Like Ross said change {H0156} to ECM, then you can adjust {H0129} to your desired Speed......

well!! my truck;s responce is too slow,, u know it takes time while I am crusing and suddnely hit the gas pedal full throttle it takes time to eccelerate !!!! i HATE IT,,I don;t do it for racing but for sudden movemints and maneuver ..thnks again

Isn't there a message that appears on the instrument cluster when AFM is activated?

A.O.A
May 17th, 2009, 10:16 PM
yea A WARNING Msg!! says something about the VVT!!!

GMPX
May 17th, 2009, 11:24 PM
VVT = Variable Valve Timing
AFM is what is used to deactivate 4 cylinders, not VVT. Anyone with with an AFM car that can let A.O.A know what message appears on the cluster when AFM has kicked in.

Ross

I believe what you're describing is part of the Torque Control, not AFM. Try going to {B0532} Throttle Tip-In Torque Reduction, Torque and set it to No. Let us know if that helps the delay you're seeing when you suddenly go full throttle.

On my AFM truck, nothing shows up on the Dash....But you can feel & hear when it goes into 4 cylinder, the Vibration & Nasty exhaust drone!!! If you click on the "DIC" center and scroll to "MODE" or something like that it'll show either 8 cylinder mode or 4 cylinder mode......
