Progamming is totally new for me. I have a 1955 chevy that I'm installing a LS3 crate motor and a 6L90. I suspect that both the motor and tranny will come with some sort of standard programming. How hard wil it be for me to get this combo running? Will I just be able to plug in tire size, rear end gear ratio and have the setup be able to drive?

Nice! :) Depends where your engine and trans came from, & what harness and ECM combination you are using.

I would suggest your best bet if you want to do it all yourself is to get the GM Performance Parts kit which includes a harness and ECM specifically for conversions. That is the expensive option (I'd say), otherwise there is a number of users on this forum who's business is doing harnesses and programming for conversions.
I'm not sure the GMPP ECM's are set up to work with the 6L90, that might kill that idea. Very nice conversion idea anyway, should turn out great.
Cheers,
Ross

Yes, I'm using all GMPP items. Not as expensive as the ZZ502 ramjet plan I had. are the GMPP controllers "locked" and if so, are they easy to bypass?

All GMPP over the counter. Engine and Controller, and reconditioned 6L90 from GM.

The GMPP controller - normally an E67 - does not support automatics in its native GMPP form at this point. Only manual trans unless they have changed things and not mentioned it. They dont have an A6 product at this point, and their A4 support is a seperate controller and harness.
GM could probably tell you if the "recon" 6L90E has a valid VIN related calibration, or a factory test calibration which is what new ones normally come with.
You wont really know what it has in it until you have it all connected and see if it raises any DTC's that tell you if it needs a production calibration flashed in or not.
cheers.

Neglected to mention, Chuck COW, or Jesse - Wait4me, or some of the other shops on here should be in a position to turn the E67 into a controller which WILL run an A6.
Then you just need an A6 harness to complete it. :)

I was just thinking that the new Camaro has an LS3 and 6L80 option.

I think the Catillac CTS-V is a 6.2l with 6L90 and it uses the E67 controller. I wonder if the controller was flashed with that program if everything would work. Have a 6L90 out of a 2008 GM truck, 2WD.

Doubtful man, sorry but in trying to run a 09 CTS-V ECM/TCM setup to swap a 6L90E into the TrailBlazer SS the ECM pinouts are all wrong. The CTS-V has a few the TBSS doesnt and vice versa, just simply loading the tune wont work period.
Im kinda lost with this project right now, another member is working on the TBSS stuff and I just dont have the time to invest into it right now.
