i know there is a million threads about this but i read them all and cant fix my problem. i have connected the "out" of my LC-1 to the serial cable it came with to a gender bender adapter then into my flashscan. the "in" of my lc-1 it has that stopper connecter. i set up all the options as the pfd tutorial said but still cant get it to connect. it works fine in analouge connected to the v2.

Do you have all the serial PIDs selected?

A gender bender is insufficient... it has to be a null modem adapter (crosses pins 2 and 3).

female-female won't work... you need a null-modem adapter... see this:

Or get a pre-made LC-1 serial cable from TAQuickness:

:iamwithstupid:
This is very important.
LOL when serial first came out I bought a standard gender bender too.
Only a null modem will work.
IMO make you own direct cable or buy one from TAQCables (http://taquickness.com/taqcables.htm)

yeah figured that out thismourning i just rigged up some cable to test it crossed 2 and 3 over and bingo. i didnt buy the gender bender just grabbed it from work lucky haha. i have a cable made up now, but i have another problem now the flashscan is not connecting to my computer. i plug it in and i get only the far right yellow light lit. no lcd screen. a couple times i plugged it in i got 3 lights on but no lcd. it still works fine on the car however somthing happened either when i set up the serial lc-1 or when i installed a usb to serial adapter. argh..... annoying cant it just work.

I don’t get any of that POST stuff. if i connect it to the car it works perfect boots logs (BBL). but if i connect it to the computer by usb it doesn’t work at all. ill explain exactly what happens when I plug in the usb cable.

1) The first time i connect it after its been disconnected for over 1 min the 4 lights to the right will light up dimly. The blue light will light bright for a half a second then go dim like the rest. No flashing, no anything else any button press has no effect either.

2) If I unplug it then quickly reconnect the usb cable to the computer only the far right yellow light, lights dimly.

I’m sure that’s not normal I think its dead.

Have you tried connecting to a different computer?
Can you connect to the car and computer? (passthru)

If it's broken, contact Ira (http://forum.efilive.com/member.php?u=416).

yes 3 computers that all used to work. and no pass through does not work either the computer just wont connect said something about cable not being plugged in in efilive scan, i'v also tryed a few usb cables. it seems like its just not able to connect for some reason. but functions perfectly on the car only.
