Does anyone have any diagrams, pinout schematics for the E38? I have the LS1 pinout but would like the e38 as well for running an electronic boost controller etc.

What do you need to monitor?

engine rpm, tps, vss.

for a boost controller.

You might be in a little trouble as the E38 sends most of this data out on the CAN bus to the cluster.
Do you know how the boost controller works? Does it just switch the waste gate on / off or is it a duty cycle output?

well i have a apexi avcr that i installed into my dads VU which i wired directly into the pcm wiring, so figured id ask about wiring it into a ve aswell as ive done a twin turbo install on my brothers ve.

I think i might just go a manual bleed valve instead. much cheaper anyway.

but i also have a l76 with an e38 from a wreck i might setup in a drag car.

I only asked because in the R&D dungeon we have an E38 COS that has two outputs that you can switch on / off under various conditions, but they are simple on / off, not PWM outputs.
If you just want to open / close the wastegate it would probably do the job very well.

Cheers,
Ross

thought i'd update the thread. manual bleed was useless so installed the avcr.

wired up the tacho wire to the #1 coil wire for rpm. though now im wondering if it's possible to get the tps signal voltage.

Can someone let me know how it works on the e38? i believe as long as i get a signal between 0 ~ 5v it will work.

Above looks do-able?

And if it's possible to tap into vss, even if it's a wire off the ecm itself.

Do you want pedal position or blade position? They can be quite different at times.
Where do you buy printed GM manuals for late model cars? Looks like you have one there.

dont really care if its blade or pedal. just as long as it will read 100% when the pedal is mashed.

i got that from the link eboggs posted.

In that case you want pedal position, not off the blade.

which wire would you advise to wire into? the 5 volt reference of the actual signal?

The 5V ref is just that, 5V all the time.
You need to tap in to the signal wire, but, this might cause loading issues and upset the sensor signal, if you fit it and then get TPS fault codes that will be the reason why.
