View Full Version : Manual transmission temp PID

Tried logging the transmission temp PID (forget the exact name) on my 01 Z06 in but the reading is always 0* celcius. There is also a trans temp voltage PID that I tried logging but it flatlines @ 4.0v.

Is the trans temp PID something that only automatic cars can log?

I know there is a trans temp sensor in the car, casue I've seen it, and the fact that its showing a voltage means it working... any help?

TFT (transmission fluid temp.) only works for the auto trans... I don't remember seeing a temp. sensor for the manual trans.

manual cars do have a tfts, I've unplugged it many time pulling the trans.

I did an HPDE and logged the voltage. It drops as I drive harder so I'm assuming its reading the temp and decreasing voltage as it gets hotter.

when I start the car it reads around 2.3v and by the end of my session its 1.5v

I checked the wire diagrams... and we're both right...:D

F-car MM6: no temp. sensor.
Y-car MM6: temp. sensor on Z06 only.

I would guess that GM.TFT is for the A4 and GM.TFTS is for the M6.

how do ya like that!

so, would the scaling for the tft & tfts be the same?

i guess my question is, would I be able to use the PID from an auto car to log the trans temp in my Z06?

I don't think that will work...

I asked Paul how to scale TFTS to obtain °F or °C.

It appears the TFTS is scaled into degC using a pair of calibration tables in the PCM. Those tables contain 17 values each (0..16) which represent the voltage from 0..5V in roughly 32mV increments. You could use a calculated PID to lookup these values using the lookup() function.

The table to use depends on the trans temp sensor pull-up resistor value, see table below.

Paul

digging up an old thread, but it's kinda relevant to my question.

We are currently building a vt drag car with an automatic harness, but will be running a turbo 400. i have singled out the wires for the tft and vss so my question is, if i load a manual tune into the pcm will the tft still work correctly?

I don't see why it shouldn't work.

Digging back....

This is my calc PID... whoever needs or wants.

*CLC-00-063
None 0.0 300 .2 "-1.0705*pow({GM.TFTS},6)+16.776*pow({GM.TFTS},5)-103.15*pow({GM.TFTS},4)+309.89*pow({GM.TFTS},3)-454.51*pow({GM.TFTS},2)+220.49*

{GM.TFTS}+271.7"

works like a charm
