View Full Version : Increased VE, little change in LTFTs?

Sirs,
I have a '98 TA and have throughly enjoyed tinkering so far!

I have changed my VE table (increased by 30-40) to try to decrease my LTFTs but they have not reduced substantially (majority below 5.5, a few cells at ~7). See attached. My O2's are running an average at .45, stock tune average was .55 (WOT .85-.90). I am apparently running leaner and my mpg is up a couple of mpg.

Should I see more of a change in LTFTs?
Will I hurt anything by running the VE values this high?
Or should I lower the VE closer to stock and modify other tables?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Jason

Is your MAF sensor still fitted and functioning correctly?
If so then changing the VE table will have little effect.
The VE will only control fuel when the MAF is removed or disabled.

My MAF is still connected and functional. I will reset the VE back to stock and start over...

Can I perform the AutoVE Tuning? The tutorial references 99+ models. I have read on other forums that the 98s do not respond well when the MAF is disconnected... Are there any special consideration when modifying the 98s?

Has anyone else had much experience tuning their 98s since the latest version was beta released? How have the 98s responded? Is anyone running SD tunes?

thanks for the response!
Jason

I thought the primary VE controlled fueling in close-loop and the secondary or "backup" VE is used when the MAF is disconnected (open loop), at least on the '98's ????
So if VE has no effect on fueling with the MAF connected, how is the way (what tables) to adjust fueling if you plan on leaving your MAF connected?
