Posting Copyrighted Info

Hi guys,

I'm on some other forums (not for tuning but vehicle repair), lately the moderators there are very touchy about posting copyrighted info from say auto manufacturers tech info sites.

Is it ok to post an occasional screen shot of EFIlive on other sites?

Blurry and barely legible, but still good advertising of a great product.

Also a chance to sell more licenses!

Yes, you can post screen shots of the software so long as EFILive is correctly attributed. As per the waiver in our documentation, which also applies to our software and screen shots of the software:


You may freely copy and distribute this entire document.
You may freely quote, copy and distribute portions of this document, only if any such quote or copy acknowledges EFILive as the original author.
If you wish to quote, copy or distribute portions of this document without acknowledging EFILive as the original author, written permission must be obtained from EFILive Limited. Permission may be requested via email to [email protected] the EFILive software is freely available for anyone to download there are only a few restrictions on re-posting content from that software and/or documentation. All we ask is that proper credit is attributed to EFILive when posting info obtained from EFILive and that no financial gain is made by copying and/or distributing that information.

For example, if you post a screen shot on a forum, you would add something like: "Screen shot from EFILive software", or just a link to EFILive's web site (if the forum allows such links).

I'm not sure if I have or haven't added that, but anywhere I would have posted a screenshot it would be known. Wondering where it came from would be like wondering "Who the hell is Prince?" (And I don't like Prince.)

Exactly. A common sense approach is all that is needed. Screen shots are sort of obvious. Its more when quoting/copying text from our reference manuals that attribution needs to be given.
