I am very new to diesels I have played with allot of different types of gas motors, and have a pretty good handle on what it takes to make them work well. That being said I have a 07 lmm crew cab I bought it with 20 k on it .
It works well ,..
Except(here is my list)
The thing makes a ton of torque so why downshift out of 5th and 6th so early
Every time the dpf regenerates I want to throw up17mpg down to 9mpg.
Full throttle, the stars need to align just rite for the thing to Goooooo!then it stops pulling @ 3100 rpms
I really want more mileage 20 would be good ,if i get a little more torque that would be ok to.
I have spent some time looking at the freeware, tables lots of tables
How much time does it take the average guy to get the results they are looking for? This site seams to be great for support.
I guess I need to know I have realistic expectations before I spend $800

Thanks in advance

The thing makes a ton of torque so why downshift out of 5th and 6th so earlyMostly EGT control, Higher RMPS = lower EGTs
Every time the dpf regenerates I want to throw up17mpg down to 9mpg. Thats the nature of the beast. EFI can 100% delete it so it never regens again and you can take off the DPF completely.
Full throttle, the stars need to align just rite for the thing to Goooooo!then it stops pulling @ 3100 rpmsThats the end of the fueling. If I remember correctly the fueling peters out at 3200rpm. Once again totally controllable with EFILive
I really want more mileage 20 would be good ,if i get a little more torque that would be ok to. That too is a totally resonable request and again totally do-able with EFI
I have spent some time looking at the freeware, tables lots of tables
How much time does it take the average guy to get the results they are looking for?If you buy from a good vendor; they will supply to you usually around 2 tunes to get you started. If you really feel up to it you can start reading and learning and asking questions to the community and you can start building your own tunes to suit your own needs. This site seams to be great for support. Yes it is!
I guess I need to know I have realistic expectations before I spend $800 It will be the best $800 you have ever spent for your truck; HANDS DOWN!!! Anyone who says don't do it just buy a tuner just plain doesn't know the power behind this tool.

Thanks in advance

Who is a "good vendor"?
Where is the acceptable placement of an egt thermalcouple on the LLM?

Check out Dieselplace.com there are lots of vendors there who offer custom tunes with your purchase.

I personally bought mine from Nick at duramaxtuner.com. and i was very pleased with his tuning. Socal Diesel is another good vendor. The list goes on. those are the two who i would recommend for the LMM.

Well actually the tuner i hear the most about is IdahoRob @ ATP (Adrenaline Truck Performance) 1-208-484-3670. One of the local guys i live close to has nothing but very good things to say about him. Very good support there.

Just got my efi live, MBRP Exhaust, EGT and Boost gauges for my 08 lmm CC dually from Jess at HuskerDiesel.com. He gives superior support and will walk you through your set-up on the phone. I did my entire job this past Sunday. The tunes take about 30 minutes the first time. The exhaust and the EFI Live is a piece of cake to install I got a 45 hp tune for towing and a 115hp tune for playing. It works great. The truck drives just like stock under normal use and I get 20+ mpg and I havent even tried the tow tune yet. I am completely satisfied as I know you will be as well. Good luck!

Gauges go in a pillar mount. I will receive my ISS Pro guages this week. They just came out a week ago and were designed to match the 07.5 and up GM truck's dash. I had originally ordered autometer, but opted to wait for the ISS Pros since they will match my dash gauges perfectly. Call Jess at HuskerDiesel.com and place your order. He gives service after the sale. He wont leave you hangin if thats what you;re worried about. My truck works like a dream and yours will too.
