On the girlfriend 98 stock TA (a few bolt ones) and she pulls like 3-4* of knock.
She is racing tomorrow and I will be putting in 102 octane and would like to turn on of the knock sensors since i am pretty sure its false knock (heard/y-pipe chatter)..

What would I change to do this... Thanks.

No, but I do adjust things to make KR less intrusive.
I drop the Knock Fast Attack Rate by 30%
and increase the Knock Retard Recovery Rate by 50%

KR helps to indicate detonation if you picked up bad gas so you dont hurt the motor... So, if im not going to turn them off knowing I am running 102 then why not just up the timing 3-4 to compensate? no need just turn them off..

I dont have a pre=header/y-pipe chatter log so i dont know where she was previously. 98's are known for some knock but I don tthink 3-4*.

i have the same problem with my 98! i have adjusted the sensitivity and logged less retard! i know its the y-pipe. but i could be valve train noise or anything! i'd hate to se anyone blow a motor for not having a warning

I hear you 100%... I wish I could have taken a log before and after the full exhaust mod to eliminate one thing or the other. Just thinking it will be fine being all stock (interanally) and 102 race gas. She has been on my ass all year to get her car in the 12's, so im putting on my bogarts on and adjusting KR.

Quick and derty: Zero out B6204 and B6205

Not advising you do this. But, that's how to prevent timing from being pulled IIRC.

is it safe to run like that when you know what the knock is, such as a y-pipe bump?

Ill have her data log the run... I hate to totally take them out but i just dont see how a 70K stock motor with stock everything in the tune can pull that much tiimng.. Like I said, I dont have a pre-post KR WOT run to comapre but I can feel the "Y" pipe banging. I know mine picked up 3-4* of knock.

I just dont see how adding 102 octane and turning off the knock sensors (track only) to have 28* WOT timing will hurt anything.

IMO, if you have pre and post data then yea... I just dont have pre data and just going by what my car did. I think she will be fine for her ~300HP 98 TA.
