Hey I am wiring up my SM AFR and was wondering what I should connect the positive lead to for the power source. Some people tell me ignition others say the ecm. Also is there anywhere else I could ground it or should I just run it to the negative terminal.

no takers? Just need to know where I should connect the positive lead? (Pics would be helpful)

I use a different brand WBO2 but I get 12v power and ground from the PCM.

Which ports on the pcm? And did you solder some connectors or did you splice in? How do I know which one is ground and which one is positive? Anyone got a diagram?

Which PCM? :hihi:
For power and ground from the O2 harness on a 99+ LS1 (516k)
You can usually tap into the fuse box directly for a switch 12v
grounds are all over.

That diagram shows power/ground from the vehicle harness and not from the PCM itslef... :)
You don't want power/ground from PCM itself because on some vehicle/models (GTO...?) the PCM may PWM modulate power while the engine is running, and this is not a suitable power source for the wideband.

I pulled the PCM and I think I'd rather hook it up to the ignition:bad:
Here are all of the junction boxes/relays under dash any idea where to hook it here?

Guess I might have to go through the pcm, but didn't want because than I have to make pids for em.

I would look in the fuse box for a pin that is not being used. Use a multimeter/test light to ensure it is ignition and not constant power.
I have done this before with several things, used a fuse and had to date no problems.

The fuse box under the hood or in the vehicle?

You can get a double tap for you fuse box and add a separate fuseable source from you panel. Here is the panel and tap I used from my drivers side. Excuse the crappy phone camera pics.

I'll be sure to post up some pics tomorrow, I grounded it on a bolt right underneath the dash fuse box that attaches the dash to the metal frame. Then I ran the wires through the dash so its all in the glovebox, so now I just hook up my scanner through there. Gotta give a special thanks to Gordy for the double tap reccomendation, and Joe for telling me not to go to the PCM and saving me a lot of work. :)

One last thing, how do I setup my controller with my scanner? I know there is a pid for the PLX wideband, but it wont let me activate it. Does the vehicle have to be running for the wideband pid to activate?

You need any pre-requisite PIDs selected first.
EXT.ADx or EXT.WO2AFR

Ok I selected EXT.AD1 and then CALC.AFR_PLX1 and now they are valid but for allocating to my AFR gauge which one should I choose?

Are you going to use analog AFR or serial AFR...?
In FlashScan V2 setup options, for analog AFR:
- enable AD Pids (for analog AFR),
Or for serial AFR:
- enable Ser Pids (for serial AFR),
- set Comm Port to Wideband,
- set Wideband to PLX,
- set Format to 1st or Both,
- set Data display to AFR and EQ.
Then, either of the following:
For serial AFR, you select these pids in scantool: EXT.WO2AFR1 and CALC.BEN1.
For analog AFR, you select these pids in scantool: GM.AFR, EXT.AD1, CALC_AFR_PLX1, CALC.BEN_PLX1.

ok i selected ext.ad1 and then calc.afr_plx1 and now they are valid but for allocating to my afr gauge which one should i choose?
Oh, you're doing analog AFR...
select CALC.AFR_PLX1 to display on the gauge/chart.
