"VROOOOOOOM" startup question

ok this is pretty silly and useless as far as "performance" tuning is concerned, but I have to ask. :grin:

What would I change in the tune to make the engine (gen III 4.8) start with a big obnoxious roar (as If I held the pedal to the floor while cranking and then released it as soon as the engine fires) before settling down to the base idle? The engine is in an 1968 offroad VW Beetle so it would just make it that much funnier for the thing to automatically start with a roar like the old Buick fireball straight-8's (their starter switch was engaged by pressing the accelerator pedal to the floor)

I tried playing with B4604 but that didnt really do much...

this is a drive by wire/ETC engine, FWIW...

You sure you want it to rev that high when it is cold? Maybe its just me, but I let my cars warm up a little while.

Start Up RPM Offset - add a few thousand RPM to what you want to hit
Idle Airflow Parked position - MAX value.
Start Up Airflow Correction - Possibly MAX Value but I can't be sure without trying it.

Being that this will be IAC controlled and well out of the scope of its normal operation its hard to say if these effects will be what your after. It will be a little doughy to build revs I reckon and thus you may have to lower the decays to allow it to get to the RPM you want in time.

Id start with the RPM offset and especially the parked position setting first to see how they go and then go from there.

a serious amount of wear to the engine, as it takes a second or so for oil pressure to build sufficiently. Most engine wear takes place within the first few seconds of a normal start.

The simplest way is to just press the gas pedal and throw any mechanical sympathy out of the window.

I tried that, it raised the rpm, but held it for like 3 seconds before settling down to curb idle.

this engine has ETC...

yes I realize that. I got the engine for 300 bucks, and if you saw the vehicle that this engine is in, you would probably realize that this engine wont see much mechanical sympathy in the future...

if the closest I can get is having the rpm rise and hold for 3 seconds before settling down, then Ill just leave it stock.
