Since the last update my precious V2 looses connection to
the PCM while logging for unknown reasons.
This is unpredictable and quite annoying.
Am I the only one going through this?

No, there have been some other reports of this also. We still don't know what is causing it.
If you are able to reproduce it consistently, please document the conditions so we can try and reproduce it here.

I thought I could reproduce it, but I can't.
I happens sometimes and sometimes it does not.
All I know is that it start immediately after the new FW.

If I power off the V2 then reconnect it will be fine.

Any news on this?
Can I go back to the previous FW without consequences?

I can't log balance rates anymore.. Not sure if it was after the EDC16 DSP updates or not.

I've had this happen before on my earlier version, but I put it down to the small lap top going to sleep. It was a very long log though about an hour an a half.

I have been trying to get a scan on a 97 lumina 3.1 I had given to me.
but it will not allow me to see the standard pids. for example when i try to access the vss it is listed as not currently valid.
Also when I try to get DTCs it stalls the car. this battery is so bad it will not start the car again without a boost.
I'm posting to this thread as I'm pretty sure the cause is the bad battery which I need to replace. may or maynot be the cause of some disconnects some have had.
Any thoughts
Alex

Alex,

Did you validate pids after connecting to the 97 Lumina...?

I got a chance to try today I did validate pids but it kept asking to register.
I checked the register info twice still wouldn't come out of demo mode. I guess this could be why it didn't allow for any monitoring or logging.
I have reinstalled the software hopping this will correct the problem
Will try again tommorrow.

Are you entering the correct registration info from the blue card, exactly as shown on the blue card...?

I did not get a blue card, but the only thing thats slighty different is date i use the calender option to set it to Oct 23, 2009 (m/d/y) but the issue date from the email has this 20091023 different format (t/m/d).
Could this be the problem?

Use what you got in the email,
just paste it into the license.txt it's quicker.
[License.1]
Serial=000000000000
RoadRunner=
Type=Scanner
Issued=20000101
Key=????-????-????-????
:)
Is anyone else losing connection while logging (pass thru)
with this FW?
Id like to at least go back to the previous version.
That is not possible anymore though.

I can't enter it in the format as 20091023 y/m/d as listed only 23-Oct-2009 can be entered.
Hopfully the reinstall will work
Thanx
as for the disconnections I think it has to do with my bad battery since my AT software has the same issues (more so)

Open the license.txt in
C:\My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\User Configuration
and paste the info from the email.

As soon as it loses connection, stop logging and save the trace file on the FlashScan device. Then copy the trace file from FlashScan onto your PC and email it to me along with the log that was being recorded.

The more info I get about this the sooner I will be able to track down the cause.

Hmm, im starting to suspect this may have been 1 of the problems i was experiancing under windows 7.

logging through the laptop after about 15 minutes and the logging screen would just "lock-up". efilive itself wasnt locked the screen just froze. I would have to press stop recording button save log and start again.

This was happening while logging an e38 on a ve commonwhore.

So far so good i hooked up my AT and no registration issue when I tried to connect.
Going now to get the battery, no juice to run it.
But connects to device fine and console shows as connected with no mention of demo mode. and my controls at te bottom are working now.

but I did make 2 changes turned off UAC and removed and reinstall of software.

Thanks again

Paul FWIW when is loses connection I can unplug the V2 from the DLC
and replug it in and it will pick up the connection.
I thought I sent you a .blx once before
Sorry to nag on this.

Sorry to nag on this.

Keep nagging, it needs to be fixed, but more importantly send me a trace file.

When it stops, can you still use the V2 keypad before you unplug it - or does it lock up completely?
If you can still use the keypad then save a trace file using the V2 keypad: Scan Tool->Options->Save Trace File.
Then send me the trace file.

You need to save the trace file within about 5 seconds of the problem occurring otherwise the buffers that are saved to the trace file will get overwritten with new incoming data. If that happens then the trace file won't be any help.

LOL
by the time I notice it the console tab is a mile long with lost connection,
that is just one reason it is so annoying there is not the usual dialog box
just frozen gauges.

I can stop the log, save/delete then restart but it will eventually drop out,
only after disconnecting the V2 from the vehicle will it keep connection after wards.
This is painfully inconsistent, I just logged at least an hours worth with no problem.

I know, and the fact that I can't get it to fail here, means I'm struggling to track down the cause.

Is the V2 still responsive to its keypad once the laptop has stopped logging? Or does the V2 freeze up and require a hard reboot?

Maybe there's a loose connection somewhere causing FlashScan to reboot. To determine if V2 is rebooting or not (due to momentary power loss) before you start logging, set the V2 screen to something other than the main menu. Then after you notice the laptop has stopped logging, check the V2 screen. If it is still on the same menu then it has not rebooted, if it is on the main menu then it has rebooted.

This happened again yesterday.
The V2 is still responsive to its keypad once passthru stops logging.
Here is the .efx
I saved 2 for some reason, it's #0004 IIRC.

I'm new to this stuff but what OS are you running.
ever since I switched up to Vista i get loss of connections with my AT software my efilive software has been fine so far.
but it turned out to be a port issue conflict may or maynot be the case here
just a thought.

Thanks for the files, I won't get to look at them until Monday when I'm back in the office. But I hope they show something that helps figure out what is happening.
