Hey guys, I'm working on a personal project with a 2007 58X engine, E38 controller, 2007 vette wiring harness from an auto and it is bolted to an early 4L60E (95). I would like to use the T42 trans controller however I read alot of people saying that it won't work because of the input speed sensor associated with the 4L70E? I then look at all sorts of wiring harness people that are using the E38 with the 4L60E trans. The set up is in a C4 so the trans is held up by a torque arm that goes to the rear differential. I would like to retain that set up for obvious reasons. Any advice would be great. :secret:

Call
[email protected] I am sure he can help you out, he loves this wiring thing problems.
I don't see why it wouldn't work. Now my question is, why not use an E40?

e38 and t42 wont work with out the input speed sensor.. the e38 wont like it.
as for why not use a e40.. e40 = 24x as stated engine is 58x

I thought E40s where 58x.

well.. time to swap out the reluctor then and get an E40 in there or even an LS1 PCM for that matter. Talk to mike@eficonnection. I am sure he can help you out.

Actually.. what you can do... is use a converter from 58xto 24x (lingenfelter) and use an older style pcm.

ok what about converting to the E67. Is that an answer? Can I then go to the trans module and delete the input speed sensor on the t42 if it has it? Thanks for the help so far.

Does the 4L65E with T42 use ISS (i.e have the reluctor on the drum shaft?)
Thanks.

Sometimes. Depends on year/platform.

It's in my sig. The trans has a gray case connector, if that helps.
ETA. There is no mention of ISS anywhere in the T42 tune I have.

All 4L's have the same connector. GTO's dont run ISS. :) The T42 supports 260+ cars & trucks from '06 onward, so plenty of combos.

Guess I'll just have to get the box stripped before I order the parts then.
I'm off to Vegas next week and wanted to pick up the parts from the States and bring them back. Never mind.
Thanks for your input.

OK well thanks for the information. I will look at other combinations I guess. I'm not sure what "get the box stripped" means.
Did the E38 come in cars that used a T42 with A4s that did not have the ISS?

May bad. You have an '05 HSV. Thought GTO. You dont have an ISS in that 4L65E trans.

Hey, I'm so sorry Man. I completely hijacked your thread, and that was rude of me. It's just funny that you came up with this while I was wanting similar info'.
Unfortunately I'm still a "senior apprentice" at this game so can't really help with yours.
Thanks for the info GMH308. I thought that was it when I checked the T42 tables and nothing there for ISS.

Hey guys, I don't mind the hijack. It allows for more questions and clearity. Thank you all for your responses. I'm goint to try some things and post on here what happens. Thanks again

Hey all, It turnes out that the T42 can have the ISS shut of or code removed, The E38 doesn't care either way, in fact the manual program that I started with seems to be ok with the T42 added to the equasion. I have a quick disconnect for the Speed sensor/TOS and the same for the OBD2 data to quickly alow for both for testing purposes. Now I have an automatic program working finally. I will get it back on the dyno and post what happens later. Thank you for all of your input on this

There is another consideration...
The older 4L60E (< 1996 ?) uses a PWM 3-2 control solenoid, whereas the later 4L60E uses an ON/OFF 3-2 control solenoid...
I don't know if this matters.

Good point Joe. Something to be careful of. That is 4L60's pre LS1 then right? So anything 4L60 that is post 2000 should be fine. We have had 4L60's running in the field now for around a year without ISS on E38's and the owners are all happy. :)

it is a 96 and older pre PWM, still working on it but it seems to shift. I haven't had time to get the other items done on it yet.
