Today we tested the LS1 PCM as an ignition controller with a carbureted LT1 engine. We turned the key for the first time today; the engine started on the first crank. Throttle response is excellent. We're looking forward to the installation in a vehicle and 4L60E (or 4L80E) transmission control.

I have to say, your conversion kit is simply awesome. I sort of wish I had an LT1 to convert over, but then I go into the garage and take the SS for a drive...6.0 liters of pure GM small block fury with AWD just cant be beat.

Now a Syclone converted would be cool...

Did you go with a carb due to certain racing classes not allowing EFI?

I think a carburetor is blasphemous! (to EFI) But to satisify curiousity and to show that the LS1 PCM is not just a fuel management system, we wanted to get a carbureted engine running with the LS1 PCM.

- an accurate crank/ignition signal
- tuning to 8,000 rpm
- IAT input (eliminate hot/cold starting issues)
- CTS input (eliminate hot/cold starting issues)
- 4L60E/4L80E control
- tach output
- VSS output
- up to two knock sensors
- and software that allows real-time tuning, data acquisition, data tracing, etc (thank you EFILive)

It's a marvelous ignition controller! As far as I know, the aftermarket has nothing on the LS1 PCM as an ignition controller.

Good job... looks like you can get the LS1 PCM to run just about anything.

That's awesome.

Another application that comes to mind is a Fox body LS3, carbed, 4L60E, with LS1 PCM to control the trans and ignition. That would be cool.

BTW how did you figure you how to mount the TP sensor on the carb?

It's just an 80s GM TPS sensor with a cable to pull it. Same idea as what you get from TCI when installing one of their transmission controllers.

As having been involved with the tuning and installation of 3 of these conversions using EFI Connection's kit on customer's cars thru my shop I can attest to the quality of the componets contained there in.

An execellent alternative for the LTx crowd. Great job Mike and Co.
