Howard,

Been looking high and low as well. Apparently (?) stateside production of trucks with the 4L80e stopped with the 2006 model year (1MB LS1 pcm). It seems as though GM stateside with 2007+up only offered the 4L60\70 and the 6L80 series...This presents some challenges...

We have a 2007 403 stroker in the shop (inherited this one-we did not set it up)with a D1 kit that will not display vehicle speed on the cluster or "report" VSS in the scantool but will shift and lockup fine with a 2006 T42 4L80e OS and Calibration-apparently the E38 is ok with letting the T42 take up those tasks on it's own.

We have been tasked with 2 requests...

1) Try to solve the displayed VSS issue, customer did say that previous attempts with running 2007 T42 4L60 OS and Calibration would report and display VSS but, would not shift properly. He has been using his GPS box to monitor VSS. We have toyed with the idea of using the 2007 4L60 T42 OS/Cal to resolve the cluster issue and running a stand alone GM 4L80 trans box direct from GM.

2) Get this thing to be able to get past 5600rpms- since upping the boost to 12lbs he has not been able to do this. It's like it hits a wall and falls on it's face. All ETC and TCS settings appear to be in order with pcm part of the tune that it rolled in with. Beyond the 1 bar MAP sensor, I would just like to rule out the trans issues before deeming a 2bar SD tune absolutely necessary for this application- I did notice quite few com errors when scanning with our Tech II -mismatch of pcm/tcm OS/Cal?

Ok, I let the SD/MAF monkey out of the bag on this one...I can cut/re-post this part in a more appropriate forum if necessary?

Hope this stirs up some more discussion.

...That's ok... SD/MAF influence commanded TFMPRS, so are related.

FYI - There is a guy on LS1Tech that has done this and basically converted a 4L80E to look like a 4L60E, which opens up some doors on a larger range of calibrations:

I ran a 4l80e on with a T42 and E38 with an L76 in a Nissan Patrol conversion.
It's not far from stock, there are some shift changes from memory.

My old truck ran a 4l80e ,LS1 single turbo with some small wiring changes. I chased up the wiring changes on line.

I did that. My only concern is TCMs for 4L70s require an ISS, and the 4l70 uses a 17 tooth ISS instead of a 40 tooth ISS. I'm not sure if simply deleting the code would fix it. Or maybe grind off 23 teeth on the Forward of of the 4L80 (and maybe rebalance).
