We do the same in Melbourne. Our fire works shows around 9.15pm so families can enjoy New Years fireworks before the kids go to sleep or for those who struggle to make it to midnight. Another advantage is you don't have to be around the drunks at the midnight show. Although this year the lighting around the town was just as exciting. Nothing to do with beating out mates from NZ. :pokey:
