I have been testing a lot of changes to the B0102, B5909, and B4343 to hopefully resolve my starting issues. It feels as if the engine either has too much timing or too much fuel. I do have a MSD-6AL-2 with a 8680 adjustable timing control in series to the msd coil. When cranking the engine to start, I need to knock the timing down -15 degrees and add a bit of throttle and the engine will fire up. Once it does fire, there is a ton of black smoke since i am running rich for starting. I have even mimicked the starting and idle tables from various similar tunes on HoldenCrazy.com but still have no luck. Seems as though all the tables between the tunes for B5909 are the same.

Anyone have any clues which way to go here?

Attached is a current tune of my truck but the B0101 VE table is not perfect since i have added long tubes and 2.5" exhaust but the AFR and LTFT are just about right for now til it warms up outside.

for starters i think your timing table is a bit high in the low rpms and low air part of it. 30 degrees is alot for just starting the car. but at the same time ive never attempted to tune a 383. try jacking up the desired airflow tables a bit. i was having this issue yesterday. my timing was fine but my airflow at 68 degrees farenheit was to low. i had to give it gass for it to turn on. but as soon as i let go of gas it turned off. i cured it by adding to the dsired airflow B4307. try adding to it and see what happens. i added alot then. i performed the rafig proccess the next day. all is well now.
