I tried to re-tune a car today that has a hpt custom OS in it. I could read the tune with hpt so I know the pcm isnt locked. When I tried to do a full flash with EFI it wouldnt let me. I dontt want to buy a hpt license just to flash to stock so I can tune it with efi.

I think the issue is based around the fact that EFILive does not recognise the unique operating system ID that HPT use.

Interesting enough that HPT can see and download a EFIlive unique operating system ID.

TunerCat Reports the unique ID number so if you have the Definition Editor you can allocat that unique operating system ID to a Defiinition Template and your good to go either way.

pptuners COS' are locked automatically,
EFILive COS' are not.
You will need a pptuners cable to flash a stock OS over the COS then go from there.

I see, I knew hp could flash over a efi cos, I thought efi could do the same. Well that sucks, I have hpt but I dont have unlimited streams like I do with efi, so I have to burn a $100 credit with hpt just to flash it back to a stock os so I can tune it with efi.
Is there any cheaper way around this?
