If you have an LS1 Camaro, then read on, otherwise if it's LT1 then you need some other tool.

The cheapest you need is FlashScan V1 Scan&Tune, see here (http://www.efilive.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_EFILive.tpl&product_id=65&category_id=12&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=56).
V1 is able to do black box logging (BBL), limited to 23 minutes,

If you want more features, like unlimited time BBL (limited only by size of SD memory card), and soon black box flashing (BBF),
then you want FlashScan V2 Scan&Tune, see here (http://www.efilive.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=57).
V2 also has serial comms (RS-232) connection capability to any wideband that supports serial comms.

You will also need a wideband oxygen sensor, preferably one with serial comms output of AFR/EQR/Lambda.

Keep in mind that the 1997/1998 calibration tables have not all been discovered and so are limited in number...
so as a concession you can flash any 1997/1998 LS1 PCM for free (i.e. no licenses are required or used).
