I was kicking back on Australia day ( 26th Jan ) and not doing much, when for some unknown reason, my brain kicked into over drive and wanted a challenge. I had been thinking about trying to get the EFILive dash page to show up in a video, like the in car telemetry you see on TV. I didn't really have a reason for it, other than it would be a good challenge and show yet another great side to EFILive.

So armed with the V2, a Nokia N95, an Internet connection and the Open Source community, I came up with the following....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YSD1_h0UxE

(hmmm... no youtube embedding here? )

Anyway, I think it would add a lot to videos of a tack day or at the drags. Now to actually get to a track to test.....

Simon.

Jesus! I get sick to my stomach just seeing you round the corner going the WRONG WAY!!!

Good Job.... How did you eliminate the backround?

That's a neat idea but I wouldn't put the VSS gauge up. :angel_innocent:

minytrker: Actually, it's you guys that are on the wrong side.... :p

Chuck CoW: When doing the overlay, you can set up a black and white image as a mask. If you have played with an image editing program, you may have used layer masks to do the same thing. As the dash is a static image, the image mask works very well.

100% black = non of the masked layer is displayed.
100% white = only the masked layer is seen.
50% grey = mixed masked layer and base layer.

So the lighter the mask image, the more of the "top" layer you see in the final video.

mr.prick: At all times, I was within the speed limit. I have no issues showing the speed there ;)

minytrker: Actually, it's you guys that are on the wrong side.... :pOur American friends are in the world minority when it comes to sticking with imperial measurements, but in the world of cars, RHD vs LHD, we are in the monitory and we miss out because of it :cussing:

That's a neat idea but I wouldn't put the VSS gauge up. :angel_innocent:It's in km/h... 75 km/h = 47 mph

Might be a lose connection to V2 or Wideband?

That looks great Simon.

Only that one time...?

swingtan
January 27th, 2010, 09:05 PM
I think there are 5 times......

0:50 second mark after cresting the hill.
1:18 second mark approaching the round-a-bout.
1:43 & 1:48 second mark approaching the dip.
2:04 second mark cresting another hill.
2:37 second mark stopping at the lights.

I'm trying to work out how to display the brake pedal switch status, but can't find the PID in ScanTool. It's there in BBL and I can watch it on the V2 screen, but I can't find it in ScanTool......

Are you looking at STATE02...?

Oh, I see... BRKR... I see it in both scantool and S&T->BBL.

I'm on V7.5.6 build 102 which I think is one version behind.

As mentioned, I have the PID in BBL, but not in S&T. I can't see it in the PID listing, can't select it in a chart not for a gauge on a dash. I may need a re-install I think.
