View Full Version : Searched with no luck, $0183 & $0185

Well, I have lurked around here for a while now, just haven't had the need to post before.
Anyways, I tried to do the custom OS for the DSP5 for my LLY Duramax, using the V2 as the switch. I followed the tutorial in the help section. Got all the files on the V2 like it said and when I went to set up the PIDs for my truck I got a $0483 code.
So I did a little searching and came to the conclusion that I needed to update my software, well, upon trying to update V8, I got a bad token error. More searching led to me reinstalling all the software, direct from the website, so it was up to date already.
Now, opening up EFILive Explorer, and trying to load the files into the V2, or even trying to format the V2, I get either a $0183 or a $0185 code. I've tried reinstalling again and nothing. I'm stuck here, and in afraid to even use the V2 to load up any tunes to my truck now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you format the file system?

I get the $0185 when I try to format. And I get the $0183 when I try to put files onto the V2. Err, well it could be visa versa. Either way, I'm getting both codes and it's not working.

As per my email reply, what is the size of the SD card?

I am not using a SD card. I didn't think I'd need one, I only want to load what I need for this one vehicle.

Try formatting with scan&tune.

I did format with scan&tune, seemed like it worked, until I go to explorer to load the files to it. Then the codes again.

05LLYM, welcome to the forum...
So you're at builds 106 and 86...? And you installed firmware 2.6.26...?
Load the files Options.txt and Settings.dat from S&T and not from EE.

Just to be clear as well there are two filesystems:
- Data
- Config
If you go into EFILive Explorer you'll notice that there is a format option on both the Data Files and Config Files tabs. Which one are you getting the error with?

Seen your post over at Diesel Place forums too so post the same over there.
So what version of V7.5 and V8 do you have installed?
What is the current firmware and bootblock on the Flashscan V2?
One last thing. What year is your LLY? If 2006 using the Bosch ECM then you cannot change DSP from the Flashscan v2.

Nevermind on the 2006 LLy since I see you use 2005 in your username here.

I will be updating my soft/firmware in the next hour or so and will try again.
But like i've had issues before, what if I run into the "Bad Token" thing again when updating?

Maybe it's because my software isn't up to date, but I do not see a data files tab to format in Explorer. I will be updating shortly, no Internet on the road.
Will this issue have any affect on me loading up a different tune like I would normally?

No idea on that if safe to upload. May depend on how mixed up some things may be.

Re-download the update and re-install it.
It may be from a bad download or maybe your V2 was a Gameboy in another life.

Ok, I was able to get the V8 and the V7.5 to update fine. Now, I just cant seem to figure out how to update the Firmware.
BootBlock: 2.06.02
Firmware: 2.06.23
I am not up to date correct?

Opening scan&tune with the V2 plugged in you should get a notice that there is a newer FW and to update.

OK, got it. Now, next problem. On the top of pg. 23 of the DSP Upgrade Tutorial it says to turn "Auto PIDs" on, I dont see auto PIDs on my V2. There is MRU PIDs, A/D PIDs, and Ser PIDs.

If you don't see Auto PIDs then you have an older firmware...
Check what firmware you have in your V2...?
In S&T go Device Settings, goto the Options tab and checkmark "Automatically select..."

I am up to date on the firmware.
I checked the box, looked at the V2 again, and it changed MRU PIDs to yes, it was a no.

OK, so now should it work when I go to switch tunes? Instead of freezing up?
