i'm getting everything set up in preparation of running autove and in the tutorial it says that i need to unplug my maf and make provisions for a new IAT sensor. My question is why can't i just leave the maf plugged in so the computer can continue to use the existing sensor in the maf.

What OS are you using?

You don't need unplug the maf,
failing the MAF properly removes it from influencing fueling.
The point of speed density is to remove the MAF's influence on fueling.
The MAF table becomes obsolete after VE tuning and needs to be scaled despite
the description in the tune that says otherwise.

I have zeroed out the MAF table with this speed density script and had no problems at all.
