crank angle sensor error

how do i get the case to work on the scanner with a cos 3 for my lq9 402. i hit the case button and nothing happens. if i go to use anything it all works engine trans ect. engines at opp temp in park at idle

When you press the CASE button, you then have to increase engine RPM to above 4000 (you have a 10 second window in which to do this), at the right RPM engine will stumble sharply for a moment, you have to immediately release throttle and let engine spin down to idle... then turn off key and wait at least 15 seconds.

Is this engine is a production car/truck or in a retrofit?
