Did GM use anything other than E40 ecm in 05-06 LS2 Corvettes?

TIA.

Nope, the LS1 1MB was used in the Vette thru the 04 MY, for 05-06 the E40, then 07+ its the E38.

Thanks for the quick reply.

No problem, too bad GM had to go through the trouble of creating the E40 and then only used it for 2 model years. Seems like a waste and a patch-over controller to me, maybe they couldnt get the E38/E67s ready to go quickly enough or something.

Did the Vettes switch to the E38 in 06? I think everything else in 06 uses the E40 (for V8 stuff).

Looking at the efilive homepage, apparently the 06 Vette is an E38. Looks like they only used the E40 for 05...interesting.:doh2:

Only the 2005 corvette used E40, the old LS2 (24x reluctor wheel) was used in the 2006 GTO and 2006 TBSS, with the new ls2 (58x) used in the corvette and CTS-V.

Very similar to the 1997-98 ls1 controller limited use, replaced by the modern Gen III in 99.

Makes sense now that I actually think about it, the Vette got the 58x reluctor in 06 which would make it incompatible with the E40. I believe the SSR used the E40 in 06 as well (which makes sense as its based off the TB).

Thats true, the first LS1 PCM was only used on 97-98 Vettes and 98 F-bodies.

Why GM, cant be that smart to invest the man hours into a controller then use it for 2 MYs. Dont get it???

All good things start out in vettes. :) GM quickly updated to the 12597121 E38 so maybe the original software/hw wasnt so good :).

Some engineers (not necessarily at GM), make the 1st of something... they test it in-house and it's good... then it's released to the public... then after a while of being in the field the problems/shortcomings start showing... so now the engineers look at the field data and redesign it to be better...

Happens with anything/everything, from the LS1 to Vax/VMS.

And, yes, GM uses the Vette to introduce new performance stuff.

Vettes have always gotten the newest everything, its GMs way of saying "Hey, you're buying our sports car, you should get everything before anyone else!"

Keep in mind that the 04-05 LLY dmax also used something that was of maybe of E40 decendant......at least they look identical on the outside!

(I dont know that for a fact if they share internals, only thing I know is the case design/connector configuration is apparently identical)

I remembered that the E40/real LLY (06s are basically LBZs)/P12s share a case and look identical. That probably has something to do with it, I think Paul said that the internals are different between the 3 controllers though.

The pics you posted look identical to the P12 I have sitting here.

I think the P12's are slightly different in appearance. Look at the connectors, on the P12, the connectors seem to have a "flange" that flares out a bit at the bottom whereas the E40/LLY ECM the connectors go straight into the metal case.

Hmm guess they do have larger connector bases on the P12...they're all basically the same though. Wonder why GM made 2 seperate castings with the different connector designs?

06 C6 LS2 is E38. No wonder I couldn't download it.

Thanks again for the help!
