GM Pays Off Debt to U.S. (http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2010/04/21/gm-pays-debt/) but still owes $53.8billion
and they are "investing" $257 million.
How do you "pay off" debt yet still owe billions and
how do you "invest" hundreds of millions when you need to borrow billions to stay afloat?

It doesn't 'owe' the $53.8 billion.

Are you being sarcastic or did I miss something?
GM still owes $45.3 billion to the U.S. and $8.1 billion to Canada,
money it received in exchange for large stakes in the company.
I guess both these governments can be perpetual "shareholders".
Look at all the profits that can be made from that.
General Motors loses $3.4 billion (http://money.cnn.com/2010/04/07/news/companies/gm_results/index.htm)
And where in the world did they get the money to "pay back" the loans when they are still losing money?
Oh right, "paying off" loans adds to losses,
maybe they should not make any loan payments. :sneaky:
At least they are in "better" shape than Chrystler. :hihi: (sarcasm)

My 8 year old daughter has more money in the bank than GM and Chrysler combined
What a dilemma, spend it on car companies or Wall street bail outs so they can collect a bigger bonus (http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/brokerage/2010-02-23-wallstreetbonuses_N.htm)?

Here's how "GM Payed Off Debt to U.S." (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2497894/posts)
They didn't earn and extra 4 1/2 billion dollars, it's another pool of tarp money.
Chrysler's $197million quarterly loss looks like a "windfall profit".

GM Could Be in Hot Water With FTC Over Truth in Advertising (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/04/23/gm-hot-water-ftc-truth-advertising/)
