Has anyone seen this?..... 2010 Camaro w/ E38, read ecm just fine, tried to reprogram but it keeps rejecting the bootloader. It says engine or vehicle speed not zero or flash memory error. Never seen this before.... any ideas? No other programmer has been used on the car.

Are you using the latest V7.5.6 build 112 software, available here:

If so, can you please follow the instructions on this page and send the requested files to me at [email protected].

As well as the latest 7.1.2 Build 112 software also ensure you have installed 8.1.2 Build 99 as this provides the necessary firmware update for your FlashScan V2.

Information regarding firmware updating can be found in this document (C:\Program Files\EFILive\V8\Documents\Upgrading FlashScan.pdf) on your PC (when V8 is installed).

Have you tried the operation after updating the firmware to 2.06.33? There is a dependency between the software and firmware such that the firmware update may resolve the issue for you. Paul will definitely need the debug with the latest firmware implemented to give the most meaningful information.

I have the files that you sent, I don't think there is a fault with the ECM, I think it is a problem with the FlashSCan firmware.

I highly recommend what Andrew said. Make sure you are using the latest firmware. New software and firmware versions are currently being uploaded on our web site. You should wait for that upload to complete (about an hour from when I typed this) and then download that latest versions of the V7 and V8 software. After installing the V8 software, run the EFILive Explorer program to update the FlashScan firmware.

If the E38 still fails to read using the V7 software, try using the FlashScan device in standalone mode to read the E38.

FYI have also seen this error come up with another scantool (Dashdaq) doing dynamic packet/PIDs at the time. Unplugging or simply navigating away from the screen in question on Dashdaq fixes the issue.

And have also seen it when trying "Alt Keys" with a locked ECM or TCM. No big deal. :) Just one of those things.
