Only the FlashScan product is required. Check the supported vehicles page (http://www.efilive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=100&Itemid=82) to see which FlashScan interface (V1 or V2) you "need".

Even if your vehicle is supported by FlashScan V1 I would recommend you consider FlashScan V2 for the following reasons:
- Continue to be supported in the next software version (V8). This is probably one of the most significant benefits with the version 8 software now under heavy development.
- Support for newer GM PCM/TCM controllers which require the CAN communications protocol. Supports all EFILive currently supported vehicles.
- If you are going to tune reasonable numbers of similar vehicles (i.e. LS1/LS6) you can purchase a Stream license that will enable unlimited tuning of specific controllers.
- Advanced stand alone capability (read/flash/scan/log) - still operates as a pass-thru like FlashScan V1 also. This standalone capability will be available as a free upgrade with future firmware (in beta now).
- Change to vehicle based licensing. This means a PCM and TCM of a vehicle (such as an LLY Duramax, or an LS2 Corvette) are considered as one vehicle, whereas under FlashScan V1 controller based licensing it is two PCM licenses. If you intend to tune more than perhaps 2-3 vehicles it will be more cost effective to go the FlashScan V2 route purely on the basis of overall costs.

Hi wesam, welcome to the forum...

V2 is a good choice, for the reasons that Andrew pointed out.

While you're waiting for it to ship, do this:

Install the V7 and V8 software from here: showthread.php?t=13550 (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=13550)

See this tutorial: showthread.php?t=13152&page=5 (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=13152&page=5)

Have a read thru these:

At some point you will want/need a wideband O2 lambda sensor.

Yep, look over the links Joe posted.

You will need a wideband O2 sensor from Innovate, AEM, etc in order to properly calibrate your fueling.

Which AEM do you have?
for serial connection:
30-2310 = gray wire
30-4100 = blue wire

wesam

May 12th, 2010, 04:57 AM
today i installed the AEM UEGO wide band the WOT A/F seems good =>12.8
but the problem was the idle ratio its 11.8-12.1 which is too rich
the cruise ratio is rich also 13-13.2
now what tables should i consider to correct this problem

wesam:

Welcome to the forum.

Since I have been a member a little short of two years, I will try to give you a 'road map' to tuning, and all the great Tutorials and Tuning Notes.

Since you stated you are running SD, I would really take a look at the following: http://download.efilive.com/Tutorials/PDF/AutoVE Tuning Tutorial.pdf. (http://download.efilive.com/Tutorials/PDF/AutoVE%20Tuning%20Tutorial.pdf)

Follow it to the letter. If you get in trouble, post your tune and log. From my experience thats when you really get the best responses from knowledgeable members. Read every thread you can, and utilize the great search features. Here is a brief 'cliff note' on differing tuning methods..http://forum.efilive.com/showpost.php?p=119640&postcount=21.

Another great place to start..http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=7867.

Congrats on your wideband. I would really read through those Tutorials. Not only will they help you, but then if you run into trouble others will know that you have the basic research down.

Good luck..

i received the flash scan today
every thing went fine but i don't know how i could attach the AEM wide band to the flash scan
there is a female serial cable came with the flash scan but there is no male cable with the wide band there is just a blue cable for serial data
when i read the user manual they said i should connect the blue cable to pin number 2 in the male serial cable which i should purchased and the pin number 5 should be grounded
does they mean i should connect those two cables to the serial cable which came with the flash scan or should be connected to computer serial port ?
and after i connect the cables is there any configuration in the scan tool
i have read the EFILive V75 Scan tutorial but still don't know what to do
any help will be appreciated

Ira
May 15th, 2010, 05:20 AM
You need to get a matching connector to the EFILive serial cable and then connect the black wire to pin 5 of the EFILive connector and the blue wire to pin 2 or 3. Before permanently connecting it to pin 2, I'd make sure it works as the pin number changes between 2 and 3 depending on the sex of the connector.

OK i got it
but this is in the hardware side
what about the software side
i tried to find i PID for AEM serial wide band with out luck
what should i do
I'm i missing some thing ?

mr.prick
May 15th, 2010, 06:28 AM
PIDs for serial WBO2:

[Parameters]
CALC.BEN1=1,4221
EXT.WO2AFR1=1,4375
EXT.WO2EQR1=1,4436
EXT.WO2LAM1=1,4377
EXT.WO2ST1=1,4379

wesam
May 15th, 2010, 06:42 AM
forgive me for this stupid question but where should i put those parameters ?

joecar
May 15th, 2010, 07:51 AM
EXT.WO2AFR1
EXT.WO2EQR1
EXT.WO2LAM1
EXT.WO2ST1

In S&T you can set to log those pids automatically, see the first pic.

Then set which wideband you have, see the second pic.

(remember to Save to file and to Program to V2).

After logging, you copy the log file from V2 to PC, and open with scantool, those pids will be there.

wesam
May 18th, 2010, 05:22 AM
joecar i did what you told me then i opened the Flash scan 7.5 and add a PID EXT.WO2AFR1 then start the scanning but it did not read any thing
the wiring is OK and i put a voltmeter and i could read a 2.4 Volt and when compare it to the table in the AEM manual it gave me the same A/F as in the gauge
i think i missed some thing
please moderator help me I'm trying since three days to read from wide band

mr.prick
May 18th, 2010, 06:08 AM
Did you set the wideband type to AEM?
7938

wesam
May 18th, 2010, 07:03 AM
yes i set the wide band to AEM UEGO
when i try to log using the V2 it said Controller not found

wesam
May 18th, 2010, 07:05 AM
i connect pin number 2 in the to the blue serial cable coming from the AEM WB
and pin number 5 grounded to the same point with the WB is this correct ?

joecar
May 18th, 2010, 08:08 AM
Can you mark up this pic to show how you connected your AEM...

here is how i connect it

Try connecting the blue wire to pin 3 on the DB9 connector.

wesam
May 18th, 2010, 02:41 PM
i don't think it will work because pin 3 is for calibration ( for sending data not for receiving data ) in Innovate WB
and AEM don't have calibration feature

joecar
May 19th, 2010, 02:13 AM
The Tx pin might actually be a receive pin.

wesam
May 19th, 2010, 02:21 AM
The Tx pin might actually be a receive pin.

ok i will try this today

i noticed some thing weird when i tried to calibrate the FS V2 settings as in the
Serial Wideband Tutorial i did not get the COM In : WBO2 and COM OUT : WBO2
as in this picture is this because i have the latest version of the firmware
http://img40.imagefra.me/img/img40/6/5/19/wesamw/f_12c33ivd2m_02534e4.png (http://imagefra.me/)

joecar
May 19th, 2010, 02:26 AM
Yes, the latest firmware has change that, the doc has not yet caught up.

joecar
May 19th, 2010, 02:27 AM
i don't think it will work because pin 3 is for calibration ( for sending data not for receiving data ) in Innovate WB
and AEM don't have calibration featureOn DCE devices: Tx receives data, Rx transmits data.

FlashScan is a DCE device.

thanks joecar i'm glad for you
now the tune will be much easier

wesam
May 19th, 2010, 05:13 AM
now just one last thing how could i go backward while play back the saved log ?

mr.prick
May 19th, 2010, 05:50 AM
I don't think you can go back while playing.

You can scroll manually in a chart tho.

wesam
May 19th, 2010, 05:53 AM
so if i want to check some thing back i should repeat a 7000 frame log again ?:online2long::doh2:

joecar
May 19th, 2010, 06:08 AM
If you display the log in chart form (see the Dash tab B), you can view the whole log, zoom in to a portion and scroll back/forth.

You can add/change pids on the chart.

mr.prick
May 19th, 2010, 06:37 AM
so if i want to check some thing back i should repeat a 7000 frame log again ?:online2long::doh2:

You only need to replot or filter it once then move the scroll bar at the bottom back & forth. :)

joecar
May 19th, 2010, 09:27 AM
What mr.prick said works for any of these displays:
- Data tab,
- Dashboard A (gauges),
- Dashboard B (charts),
- Maps.
