I've always logged direct to laptop, I want to start using BBL, I've down loaded and updted to the latest firmware and software.

Formatted config and uploaded pids from scan&tune to V2.

When connected to the vehicle I select pids (manually as the short cut F1 does not work) and press ok, v2 responds and flahes on the screen with my pid selection (24pids), with ignition on and engine running, I get the error message $0281 no data recieved.

Any ideas?:help2:

Please update to the latest software versions (from here http://www.efilive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=133) if you haven't already.

Yep upgraded.

It used to work long ago on previous version of firmware and/or software. It's been a while since I've touched EFI so this was a surprise.

I've done many formats of SD and internal memory so I'm running out of ideas.

The unit works fine on an LS1 (or at least it used to, haven't tried it since the firmware/bootblock upgrade). On the E67 on my 2006 CTS-V it seems to be having issues.

Any more guidance?

Which V8 software build do you have installed...?

Which V2 firmware does your V2 have...?

Did you:
- format the Config space...?
- setup your Options.txt pidlist and program it into V2...?
- program the latest E67 .pmm file into V2...?

Did you use S&T software to do those tasks...?

Formatted config space, copied over options and pmm files from the appdata folder, dtc files.

Used the new control panel to configure and upload pids in options.

Flashed it with the latest firmware/bootloader from the website. I believe 2.0.63.

Thanks for the prompt replies.

I have just down loaded the latest updates

version 20.6.03 boot block

version 20.06.35 firm ware

Formatted memory internal and SD card.

Opened Efilive explorer, deleted the config files. Refresh and confirmed deletion.

Opened scan and tune, programmed the V2. Refresh with explorer and confirmed the options.txt and .pmm programmed.

Connect to vehicle, start engine, select

F1 Scan Tool
F1 Select Pids
Select E40 by pressing OK
Returns Pids Selected
F2 Display Data
Returns the error message $0281 no data recieved

No joy :bad:

When you format the SD Card did you do that while it was in the V2, or from a PC/laptop? If it was from a PC then the necessary folder structure would not have been created and I might expect those error messages in that case.

I recommend the following:
- Insert the SD Card into the V2.
- Open EFILive Explorer.
- Change to the 'Config Files' tab.
- Click on the 'Format Config' button.
- Close EFILive Explorer.
- Check the 'File sys:' setting on the V2 by pressing the F4-F1-F1 keys. The change the option use the right/left arrow keys and then press the 'OK' button to confirm selection. Perform the following steps with the setting change to both 'Internal' and 'SD Card'.
- Open EFILive Explorer.
- Change to the 'Data Files' tab.
- Click on the 'Format Data' button.

What that will hopefully achieve is a clean format of the Config Filesystem, Internal Data Filesystem, and the SD Card Data Filesystem.

Please let us know how that goes.

Tried the above but no joy. Reset PIDs using the control panel, did a program all as well.

The SD card was formatted in the V2.

Following your instructions above, formated the config file, confirm that the V2 is set to auto for the internal and SD card. Re open efi explorer, select the data tab, press the format button and i recieve the attached (screen shot) error message. Cannot format from efi explorer...

Anyway, reformatted the sd and internal memory using the V2, programmed the options and pmm filesusing the scan & tune software, connect to vehicle and recieve the same error code.

Yes I got the same error. Can't format remotely so formatted the card from the V2.

Tried again with a different SD card to no avail.

Can you each post a screenshot of EE [Config] tab showing what files are on your V2...?

The Config space on V2 is about 1.5MB in size, if you have too many files you can exceed this... altho I don't know that this is the problem.

From S&T software, did you do this:

Did you:
- format the Config space...?
- setup your Options.txt pidlist and program it into V2...?
- program the latest E67 .pmm file into V2...?

Did you use S&T software to do those tasks...?

...but with your PCM's .pmm file instead of the E67 .pmm file.

just repeated the process, formated config file in EE and then in S&T, reprogrammed with E40 selection only, screen shots attached.

OK, you need to ditch the preinstalled EFILive configs, they are really only for reference and cause issues like this.

If you look, you have selected E40 and T43 controllers, this never occurred in a production environment and I guarantee is either the whole reason or a significant part. Uncheck the box, click the red delete button. Double click the first entry, select E40 for the first controller and T42 for the second (ONLY IF YOU'RE AUTO). Click OK, add the PIDs, flash back to V2. Use EFILive Explorer, delete the T43.xxx files that were transferred over and you should be good.

I have a six speed manual, Vauxhall Monaro 6.0 VXR I assumed I have the T43?

No, you either have a T42 or nothing. Select T43 from the Tune tool read menu, it will error out every time as its not in your car. Try with T42, should work. The T43 is only for 6spd autos 07+, was never paired with an E40 as E40 was only used 05-06, and (T43) is integrated physically into the transmission. Regardless, you need to not select a TCM for logging. Try it an see, I know a few other people have run into this problem as well.

Come to think of it, what do manuals use for a TCM in the later years (07+)? If any?

No problem man, I like the default settings to show you whats going on, but too many people just download the provided ones and try to use them on mismatched controllers. For example, the provided E67 one is an E67/T43 combo. My TBSS has a T42, so I have to change it around.

Ah, now I remember a similar thread a few weeks back (prompted by the Similar Threads section below :) )...

if you have a manual trans. then do not select any TCM, as was said above.

See this thread: showthread.php?13147-Error-0281....no-data-received (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?13147-Error-0281....no-data-received)
