I've been using my flashscan interface cable with no problems for at least 3 months now. All of a sudden a week ago I hook up the interface cable to start scanning and I get the "no interface cable Detected" error. I've checked the system on the windows OS and the driver/connection looks OK. The Flashscan box is getting data because the bottom 2 LEDs are lighting up ( green and orange I think). When I plug the USB end into the laptop, I get the little "clink" sound that the USB cable has been detected.
I've even removed all the EFI software reinstalled the version on the CD and tried to reconnect to the OBDII outlet. Still no luck.

In the properties for the Scan software, I've got it set to look through all 9 com ports. I cant figure out what the problem is.

You should have EFILive FlashScan V1 (USB) selected. If you do then you won't see any ioption to select COM ports. Since EFILive FlashScan does not use the COM Ports.

Check the USB/FlashScan connection: showthread.php?t=244#6 (http://efiforum.iqd.co.nz/showthread.php?t=244#6)

Yes Paul,

EFILive FLashScan V1 (USB) is selected .

Also, "Scan all table types" is selected

the Preferred COM Port is COM2
Scan all Com ports is selected

Scan from COM1 to COM9 is selected.

FlashScan has no requirement of COM ports, so com port settings are ignored when searching for FlashScan. The COM port settings are only useful for scanning for AutoTap.
So, uncheck "Scan all cable types" - unless you have an AutoTap cable.

Read this post as well for info on the usbview program:
