All

finally have my car on the road.

Details:
intercooled, single GT4294
60Lb injectors
10Lb Boost
11.5 AFR
11 Degrees timming at WOT

what timming, boost and air fuel ratio's have people had on a stock LS1

single 044 fuel pump will be coming soon

When you say stock engine have you done valve springs? we have had issues with boost and STD valve springs.

no, havent done valve springs.

dont seem to have a problem there.

hasnt been on the dyno as yet but goes to 5500rpm no problems

also: has anyone put the IAT sensor in the intake pipe, will it handle boost?

my idea was to put it just before the throttle body

Hi, most kits normally as the IAT in the intake pipe. regards Jason

You may have issues with your valve springs on the dyno under heavy load, most of the turbo setups we have done if not all them have had valve spring issues with standard springs.
We normally buy a new IAT sensor with BSP tread and weld on a thicker plate to the intake just before the throttle body and tap it out, earlier Holden 5L sensors work well.
On a standard engine with a turbo of that size we wouldn’t often go over 10psi, if we do the customer knows that they are starting to move away from a safer area into you may have issues, we have a few running boost controllers to lift the boost to 12-14 psi for short bursts or the drags.

We normally aim for around 11.8 AFR and timing around 10-16degs, our fuel over here is pretty poor so you should get at least that into it especially with the good size turbo you have.

Thanks for the info

i will try to adapt the factory sensor to a weldable bung or something

as for the valve springs, i guess we will find out when it goes on the dyno.

currently, the exhaust runs:

3.5 inch dump pipe, plits into two 2.5, joins then splits into two again. horrible

i have a feeling this is killing power. i will be soon making it a single 3.5 inch to tip

Any thoughts power wise?

Fezz valve springs are a good idea. They are certainly a weak point of the engine and lets face if for a small outlay might save having to rebuild or replace the motor later.

I have a supercharged (Vortech) LS1 and have the IAT in the intake about 150mm from the throttle body, best place for it, but try and insulate it from engine bay temps, worked for me by reducing the temps slightly.

I had a somewhat stubborn customer that wanted to "just see" about valve springs and lost his engine on the street about 2 weeks after putting everything on the car. Parts went through the turbo and killed it too.

ouch !!:doh2:
