View Full Version : Problem w/ class2 comm during BBL

More than half of the time when I try BBLing, my dash takes as long as a couple minutes to come to life. RPM & speedo work, but the gear selector remains dark (off), and many of the smaller gauges will be dead. I typically see the fuel gauge on empty. Most times I get a U1016 DTC.
Does anyone else see this? (Is this typical?)

Do you mean your real in-car dashboard or the EFILive dashboard on the PC/laptop screen?

I'm speaking about the GM dashboard. (Not the EFI dashboard.)

U1016 is loss of comms with PCM from perspective of one of the other modules.

Is it only while using FlashScan for BB logging? Or is it whenever FlashScan is plugged in to the vehicle?
Are you using a FlashScan V1 or V2?

I don't recall seeing this while running w/ the PC connected to my V2. I just tried it again (w/ PC running Scan 7.5), and I could NOT get it to do it. (Is that what you were asking?)
I then tried it w/o the PC, (BBL) and it showed up on the first try. I don't always see it, but most times I am looking at the V2. I only notice it when I'm driving. Watching the GM dash, it "blanked" out 3 times w/ in the first minute of engine start-up. "blanked" means the gear sel is black, the ECT & Fuel gauge are zero'd. The oil press, RPM, and volt gauge are still working OK. The DTC set again.
So I have to say the problem only shows when doing BBL.

So it only happens with V2 in BBL standalone mode (PC not connected).
Which vehcile/year/model is this happening on...?

Post your Options.txt, sounds like a weird PID causing havoc whenever its being recorded.
