Anyone else had a problem with the bi-di injector cut that replaces the cylinder balance test ?

I used it to track down a misfireing cylinder, number 6 was the culprit according the EFIlive.
After replaceing, plugs, lead, coil pack, injector, and lifting a valve cover to check for posible brocken valve springs and still no joy.........:bad:

It was found that number 8 was acctually the problem cylinder (plug lead):bangin:
Found useing an infared thermometer.

It appears the cylinder you think your turning off doesen't correspond with the correct cylinder !!

I've checked the code and it appears to be operating correctly.
Next time you're in Auckland, come to the EFILive office (2/121 Elliot Street, Howick) and I'll take a look to see if I can see why it is not working as you expect.

On this subject. Paul is there plans on bringing back the cylinder balance test. Manual control is all well and good but I liked the format of the previous test solution.

I have seen it happen, we put a Noid light on a LS1 5.7 and killed cylinders to work out the firing order, Cylinder 8 on the scan tool killed cylinder 1 on the engine and the firing order went backwards from there, so 7 on the scan tool killed 8 on the engine and so forth, so its back to front and counts backwards if that makes sense, sorry Paul I was going to show you when you where in the other day but forgot.

Not making sense yet :(

Is it just a case of bad labeling in the software?
Where the software shows "cylinder number", maybe it needs to be "Injector number" (i.e. firing order)?

i.e. given an LS1

Cylinder Number: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8

Firing order: 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 1, its actually cutting cylinder 1
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 2, its actually cutting cylinder 8
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 3, its actually cutting cylinder 7
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 4, its actually cutting cylinder 2
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 5, its actually cutting cylinder 6
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 6, its actually cutting cylinder 5
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 7, its actually cutting cylinder 4
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 8, its actually cutting cylinder 3

or to match your description (of backwards):

When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 8, its actually cutting cylinder 1
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 7, its actually cutting cylinder 8
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 6, its actually cutting cylinder 7
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 5, its actually cutting cylinder 2
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 4, its actually cutting cylinder 6
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 3, its actually cutting cylinder 5
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 2, its actually cutting cylinder 4
When you request EFILive to cut cylinder 1, its actually cutting cylinder 3

Next time you have a chance to check it out can you please let me know if the one of the above scenarios matches what is actually happening?

Paul
