I have not had the opportunity to tune an e38 blown application yet. My question is, first of all, there is a 2 bar and a 3 bar table, but I don't know which one to reference with a 2.5 bar MAP sensor. Second, I don't quite understand how this works. Does the computer automatically recognize the MAP sensor and revert to the proper map, or is there something that has to be changed?

I hope I am on the right thread for this question.

2 Bar < 2.5 Bar < 3 Bar, so you have to use the 3 Bar table. Run out of resolution if you ran 2 Bar (used between 1 and 2 Bar of pressure).

No, you must program the proper MAP values into the ECM. I believe they are under the Engine Diagnostics -> MAP area, cant tell you exactly where as Im at work and my tuning laptop's in the car waiting to go later tonight.

Once that is setup, put it into SD and tune away. If you can do it, re-enable the MAF once you're done, some people aren't fans of the MAF but I think it has a little better driveability in varying weather conditions.

Thanks, that's a big help. Does the 3 bar table need to be re-scaled to 2.5 bar, or can you just start tuning on the vve?

No, just tune it up to 2.5Bar and then guesstimate the rest of the table.

The easiest & fastest way I tuned a Blown E38 Silverado was using MAF only...The 2BAR & 3BAR VVE is hard to work with...I personally don't like using it at all. Never does what you want it to! Or expect it too. It's nothing like the LS1 VE table....:D

After what I've read I think MAF tuning would be easier as I tune alot of Fords, but, I really need to get myself familiar with the E38 for boost tuning. I think these things are going to be around awhile. The shop I am doing this for doesn't have the 1 bar sensor anymore so I guess it's now or never!

My problem is mainly familiarizing myself with what items need to be changed so I have a baseline.

I have looked through the tables and have not seen anything jump out at me on what to change.

Anyone have some more tips?

I loaded up the 42lb injectors and tried to guess at what to apply for the 2.5 bar MAP sensor. Truck doesn't seem to idle properly. Does anyone have the info for the proper initial setup?

I have found several vacuum leaks on the blower itself. That should take care of the idle. I am still hoping someone has a base tune for me or some kind of idea on where to start on this. Any help would be appreciated.
