If I have an ecm that is for a 4.3 truck. Can I use it in a truck with a 5.3 if it has the same OS?

What year trucks, if the PCMs are the same then yes, just full flash the proper OS in and you're off. Cant simple take the V6 tune and run a V8, doesnt work.

Well I ment flash the V8 tune in before I tried to run it. I gues what I ment was Is the hardware the same as long as it has the same OS?

Well there's a good chance you will have to change the OS (in fact its probably guaranteed, I dont think any V6 OSs can run a V8) but the physical hardware is identical. Might have to check the pinouts to make sure the wiring is correct for a V8, but just load a V8 tune up, full flash it in, and start tuning.

I have a 2000 truck and a 5.3 I have a ecm out of a wrecking yard 01 s-10 with 4.3. I am trying to get an ecm with lean cruse. I have a tune file for a 01 5.3 with the same OS as the 4.3. will the ecm work?

The PCM's are basically the same. I would not concern myself with the OS for the 4.3 truck. Just full flash the wrecking yard PCM with the 01 5.3 tune file. You don't need a PCM with the lean cruise, it can be enabled with EFI_Live with the correct base file.
