I have EFI Version 7 with V1 Scan and Tune. I have it programmed for my two 2000 LS1 engines to scan and tune currently. I want to be able to troubleshoot and just scan my wife's 2006 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ 3.5L does V1 work for this car? I purchased EFI V1 prior to 2006.

What brought this up was a current need to test the Mass Airflow Sensor as it is causing the car to hesitate at least that is a suspect. No SES lights on the dash. The dealer just charged my wife $212 to clean my K&N filter, the MAS wire, and put sometype of gas treatment that I don't know if it was just dumped in the tank or the system flushed externally. I am out of town and I am unable to check the car out at this time myself so the dealer was the only option to give her peace of mind and not leave her stranded.

So I don't think the dealership did anything so I need to investigate it myself, so can V1 scan this vehicle? Do I need to upgrade to V2, however I don't see the Malibu 3.5L listed?

Can you please email the full VIN to me at [email protected]? I can then check the eCM type used and therefore if V1 will support it.

GM changed over from VPW to CAN in 2004/2005 so a 2006 Malibu is almost certainly going to be using CAN.
FlashScan V1 does not support CAN so it is unlikely that the V1 will scan that vehicle, but there isn't any harm in trying.

Thanks, I will get my wife to give me the VIN as soon as possible and I will pass it on to get a definite answer. If I need to upgrage to V2 do I go through a USA dealer or order online?

I keep cars for over 10 years so I am planning on keeping the Malibu for years to come as it fits my wife and she loves it.

Cars: 2000 C5 Corvette Hardtop
1986 Chevrolet Elcamino with 2000 LS1 mated to a 4L60E tranny installed since 2005.
2006 Malibu LTZ 3.5L for the lovely wife.

I'll look out for the email. You can upgrade from a reseller, or directly from our online store, your choice really. If you can email me ([email protected]) the serial number of your FlashScan V1 I can confirm the upgrade cost for you as well...
