Run COS-3 and command an AFR of anything other than Stoich.

to be more precise....

Command anything other than Stoich. where you want OL and command Stoich. anywhere you want CL.

This is one of the great features of the COS. Wherever stoich is enabled, STFT are active in what Efilive call semi open loop.
However to keep the idle areas trim free, you still need to force open loop by maxing out B4205.

Ive never used cos3 before.im looking at it now.Just gotta make sure i load it correctly so i dont mess with my fuel segment swap as its a 98 car with a 02 ecu.

couldnt i just lower the b4103 so that it never goes below that and wont go into idle closed loop?Just curious,as i already have my ve solid and i dont wanna spend to much more time with this thing.

looks like i could set b4103 to 0.0 so it never goes below that and therefore wont go into closed loop idle feed back.Correct?

Another idea (which also may not work).

Change B3616 0-1200 Rpm's to 0% TPS Enable, and then input the AFR/EQ you desire in Table B3618 for the corresponding Rpm's.

Like I said..never tried it, but PE in most cases will be Open-loop. Whether you can control Idle in that fashion may be beyond the scope of those Tables.

Perhaps the greater question is how important is it to your application to command anything other than stoich at Idle. Closed-loop can keep you at stoich for those rare two-hour traffic jams.

Otherwise, I agree with the board's consensus..do a COS..that will solve all your problems.

More info: cam spec is 240/248 112

Would COS3 be good, or would COS5's TP VE table come in handy here for idle...?

Nate, how much time do you have...? Does the customer realize this cam is bigger and needs more time...?

Well last nite I went back threw the entire idle tune, using a lot of info from the idle tutorial posted by ssp I believe.I've got about 90percent nailed, cold start needs a bit of work and just a tick of help on hot restart.I need to do some logs and see where I'm at.but much/much better.Joe as always ur a huge help, and thanks to everyone else who has replied to the thread.what I may do is send him with this and build a cos tune and have him come back so we can play more.

The TPS VE really comes into it's own when map at idle is unstable or there is a weak signal from 8TB setups etc. So, if you can get a steady map it is not really necessary IMO.

This car idles at 72 to 75 kpa pretty solid with 14.5 afr and short terms at 1% or so and long terms at 2 and some change.
