Here is a link to the bosses Corvette doorslammer running at the N.T. titles last weekend.(Backwards view from the rear wing) A catastrophic engine failure in the third run (7 rods out the side) sent the car through the grass at over 180mph. Needless to say there was a fair bit of damage, I will add some other links as they come available.

Hey Mick,

Ouch too bad, those 7 rods will be missed :doh2:

Was the cause determined...?

Not as yet. The barrel valve mount was broken which could have caused a leanout, but the plugs etc dont support this scenario. (I believe the vibration from the cylinders dropping out broke the mount). Hopefully the engine will be out in a day or so to have a good look.
We havent been able to retrieve the data from the pass as yet, since there was a fire & the foam from the onboard system got into everything. The blower (now a psi) is locked solid from all the grass etc. It is quite a mess. Luckily it was the end of our season anyway so there is a few months before it needs to be rebuilt.

Did the chutes catch any of the internal parts? :)

Good luck putting it back together.

I am glad it wont be me trying to weld it all back together. There will be a few packs of filler rods needed in this one lol.

After watching that I'm going to have to go grab my Nevermind CD and give it a listen, thanks for the trip back to 91!
