Just received my V2. I installed the new 8.1 software on my notebook. How do I upgrade? Is there a doc on how to do this?

Connect both your V1 and V2 (should show as upgrade mode on the LCD) to your PC. Then go to the 'Help->Upgrade FlashScan V2' menu option in the Tune Tool.

You have the option to copy used licenses from your V1, which you'd definitely do. You also have the option to move any unused/unallocated licenses. If you plan on selling the FlashScan V1 you need to leave at least one PCM license left on the V1 as no further PCM licenses can be purchased for the device.

I'm sure I've already linked your V1/V2 in our database so ordering a PCM license will fail to process. If you did want to purchase a license(s) so you could sell the V1 (if you had planned to) I will process one more order for the V1 SN :) Please let the reseller know (if not fro us direct) and ask them to mention that in the order notes.

Cheers,

Bill you also need to keep the latest V7.5 software installed for now. V8 pass-thru reading is in public beta now so its good to test with, but if you absolutely need to get stuff done (and edit tunes), you need V7.5.

Andrew should have you squared away with his how-to, if you plan on selling your V1 then I would suggest leaving at least 1 PCM license on it.

I have them both connected. I also upgraded the firmware and software after the install. The V2 screen does shows upgrade mode. I opened the Tune Tool. When I click on Help I get a pop up saying help is not available. I will see if I can get a screen shot of the error. I brought it to work with me.

See attached screen shot.

Thanks.

I do have the latest V7.5 on my notebook. Are you saying I should not use v8 but 7.5?

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,

You need both V7 and V8...

Also, with V2 you should now be reading the AFR from your LC-1 using serial comms (instead of analog voltage)...

V2 serial/digital wideband logging:

Thanks Joe. My first task is getting the upgrade/help to work. Do I need to hook up V2 to the car first? If I press help or info it says not avaliable yet. Do you know what this means or why I am getting this error?

Don't I have to do the upgrade first?

The V8 software is not fully functional... you use V8 to configure BBL (logging) and BBF (flashing).

You still use V7 to view logs and to edit tunes.

Yes you have to do the V1->V2 upgrade first before you can use your V2.

To do the V1->V2 update, connect both V1 and V2 to your PC and from the tunetool go Help->FlashScan V2 Upgrade...

read carefully what Tordne said above (about copying and moving licenses)...

Do you still have your 2001 Camaro (do you still tune it...?)...?

The problem is when I go to help I get the popup error box.

I still have my 2001. I am using V1 on it. I have 5 license. I was planing on keeping a couple with the V1 hardware.

Did you see the error in one of my above posts? Is this operator error?
Thanks.

How can I move just some of my license from V1? I tried to drag and paste. That did not work. I have 5 available in the V1 boxes and want to move 3 to V2. How do I move just 3?

Thanks Guys for all your help.

You can't selectively move licenses, either they are all moved or not basically.

So I can not move 3 of my 5 licenses. That is too bad. I guess I will just leave them all on V1. I still get 2 with V2. I think I will just wait before I do the upgrade. I need to think about this some. After I do the upgrade I cannot change it.

Thanks.

Whatever cars you've tuned with V1 can be copied to your V2, for example on my V1 I had 2 PCM licenses with 1 used on my 02 TrailBlazer and 1 unused. When I got my V2 (had 4 VIN licenses on it) and copied my licenses over, I copied my unused license from my V1 to my V2 and copied my 02 TB license. So I ended up with 1 used license on my V1 (locked to my 02 TB) and my V2 had 6 VIN licenses (1 used on 02 TB, 5 unused [4 orig + 1 unused copied from V1]).
