Question about scanning for check engine light?

Im still new to EFI and i have a question about scanning for a check engine light. I have a V2 with a dsp5 switch on my duramax, so my question is, I have a friend with an 08 GMC Denali that has a check engine light on, can i use my V2 to scan their vehicle to check the code without using a license?

Hi Trace,

Yes, you can scan and log your friend's 2008 Denali;

you can also read his ECM and TCM calibrations.


A license is used only when flashing to the ECM or TCM.
