The following is a sample LS1 Base M6 Tune for beginners.

This sample Tune is for slightly modified LS1's..I.E. Lid, Headers, exhaust, small cam, etc. It contain modifications to the VE Table, MAF Calibration Table, Spark, and include all the Idle Parameters changes described in Idle Tips & Tricks and the Idle Tutorial.

Over the last two years I have seen many beginners struggle with constructing a Base Tune. I have presented a Base Tune that has the the least amount of changes from stock that is necessary, but at the same time has reasonable changes to Fueling, Spark, and Air for general performance.

It is presented as a courtesy. Remember, this is a hobby of mine not a profession. I strongly encourage you to construct your own custom tune. That is what the software is for.

Any comments or suggestions, please let me know.

Edit: Base Cam/Idle tune has been moved to the LS1 Idle Tips & Tricks Thread..http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?14439-Idle-Tips-amp-Tricks&p=129525&viewfull=1#post129525

Great idea !! First the Idle Tuning Tutroial ... now Base Tunes ... you should think about doing this full time ! (or at least a small business "on the side" as they say).

Thanks Taz for the compliment.

No, I have my hands full just trying to forecast the weather. I appreciate the compliment, but my knowledge in the tuning world is very narrow (LS1-B)...

Shawn, good deal, thanks

Can you also post the stock starting file for reference.

This is good and all , but shouldn't this have been a section in holdencrazy for others to post modded tunes into ? :nixweiss:

Thanks. Good suggestion..Added Stock File..

Chevy366:

I am posting them as 'illustrative' Base Tunes. The Tunes are to show the beginner a representative tune with minimal changes. Knowing human nature I realize some may just download one of the Tunes instead of my recommendation to customize their own tune. I encourage readers to formulate their own tunes.

Holdencrazy serves a great purpose, but these are not mod-specific tunes. It is being presented as a logical way to build a Base Tune for those with mainly Bolt-on modifications.

Hopefully it can help some users..

I would also label them as Auto or Manual.

Al, good suggestion. I re-labeled them as M6 modifications. Autos would obviously need more tweaking on Airflow, shift parameters, etc..Thanks..

Note: Base Tune include all the Author's Idle Tips & Tricks and Idle Tutorial changes. AFR and Spark are designed for maximum NA power and reduced KR. The primary purpose of the Tune is to illustrate changes from stock and let the user build his/her own tune.

I have posted the differences from stock as an attachment. There are variations of this Tune one can utilize, including Low-Octane Spark, and E10 Tuning.

If you need clarification on those or further information of the Tuning Methodology let me know. For now, simpler seems better.

Hey Shawn, do you have any general specs on the cam in this tune?

Thx!

This tune will work with cams up to about 6 degrees of overlap.

After that you would have to further tweak the VE Table, MAF, and perhaps upgrade injectors. The Idle Airflow Parameters will work with even mid-size cams.

I run a more refined MAF, VE Table, and Spark..but the 'template' of the Tune works with even my cam (10 degrees overlap).

Hope that helps..

Would this tune work with a larger cam because I'm currently untuned so I'm sure anything would be better that that lol

My guess is it would work a little better than a stock tune. RIP WS!
