Programed buddies truck and 6mths or so the ECM goes bad. Dealer replaces ECM with new one with same vin. Now the truck will not accept the vin lic and allow me to retune his truck. Help please. Thx

The licensing isn't done against the vehicle VIN (would be very easy to get around licensing). Licenses are actually allocated to the unique serial number of the ECM or TCM controller. So having had the controller changed it is not able to use the already allocated VIN.

If you can send me (email support@efilive.com) a copy of the dealer service sheet that indicated an ECM replacement along with the FlashScan Serial Number and Auth Code (as per this guide http://support.efilive.com/kb_article.php?ref=2143-YUOG-8049) and we'll provide you with a replacement VIN license.

Cheers,
