Ok I got a RJ25 cable and a phone end. I soldered it per the diagram joecar gave me. I got a serial to usb adapter and hooked up to computer. Ok first problem is running off the pc it didn't connect. And second problem is I hooked the lc1 up to my flashscan and the rj25 cable got really hot. Anybody got any ideas.

Instead of making your own, do this:

...
LC-1 Serial Program Cable (http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/xcart/product.php?productid=16189&cat=272&page=1) + Null Modem Adapter (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cables-To-Go-Null-Modem-Adapter/15172635) + FlashScan V2 Serial Cable (http://www.efilive.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_EFILive.tpl&product_id=61&category_id=7&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=56) (LC-1 to V2)

See this: showthread.php?t=9340 (http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=9340) post #3

you should already have the two cables, all you need is the null modem adapter (the SFcables one is only $3.)

I'll probably just but the other one. The reason I tried to make one is cause the cable that came with my flashscan I cannot find it now. I have the one for lc1 though. I wired the lc1 to flashscan cable as per the posts, why would it got really hot?

Yup did all that, I think it's the usb converter. I hooked it up to my flashscan and did the calibration thing and it looks like it's showing up on my flashscan, just won't connect to my laptop. I'll return the usb adapter and get the belkin from bestbuy if they got it.
